Narrated by Thomas Jones. An astronomer learns to appreciate the world around him in this sleepy adaptation of one of Aesop's fables My mom used to read my chapters of novels before bed. She read me Harry Potter, Diana Wynne Jones, Jane Austen, Terry Pratchett, Tamora Pierce, etc, etc, and then shed sing me a lullaby like Pokarekare ana or Hine e Hine.
At some point, when I was struggling to sleep after she left, shed give me her ipod to listen to these short stories on repeat or lullaby music, so that Id slowly fall asleep. I vaguely remember one of them being about using the big dipper to her somebody.\r\n

Are you kidding me the story finished on or around 35 minutes he talked so much about cheese and bread that I got snacky I went and got myself crackers, cheese and walnuts just to find that in a few short minutes the story is over and the rest is just music. Whoever slept on the first 10 minutes you don’t need this, just go to bed! I was waiting for the villagers to find the astronomer a good wife ah maybe I need to write the rest! Thanks

There's a star called Stevenson 218 and it's so big that when you compare it to the sun it looks like a tiny dot next to 218 lol
Just remember all you arrogant ppl, you're nothing and you never will be compared to the god of fire Stevenson 218
Even when you think you're hot sht you still ain't nothin but an ant to the universe and that's all you'll ever be, just like the rest of us

I am just as tired, just as nervous, just as exhausted and unrelaxed as when I started the vid 40 minutes ago. am very jealous of everyone who this works for, which seems to be pretty much everyone except me =_= I also keep thinking about how unrealistic the story is lol, maybe I am a hater and a critic. But I wish it would put me to sleep. :(

I am deeply grateful. I have a strong fever and I am suffering right now.
This relaxes me and comforts me. It even makes me smile, because I am passionate about the simple things in life and the stars. I live in the moment as much as I can.
Presence is peace.

I fell asleep at the part with the villagers showing him beauty in the day. He was in the flower field when I last saw him in my mind before drifting of into sleep. This kinda story telling is defently what works for my insomnia, and your voice is soothing.

Am I the only one who got hit with some kind of existential crisis after he said 'I am sure we all spent evenings staring at an empty expense of the outer space, looking at those little twinkling lights in the sky and wandering what lies out there'

My new favorite sleep story. If I wake- I just restart the story and fall quickly back asleep. Don’t know the story- But I love it.
Sleep well and safe friends.

Listening this in a small Greek village just next to Olympus. I also love stars (have a tattoo with the Ursa major constellation)

What keeps me from using this story is the unevitable moment the video ends and the advertising wakes me up again. Any tips

The Astronomer will usually put me to sleep, but then weird Alien music ALWAYS wakes me up, sad and very disappointing!

I'm not being able to sleep tonight, just like yesterday. For some reason it's always two nights in a row when it happens

There are pros and cons and some leftist indoctrination. I wouldn't want my grandson to be influenced by Dr. Seuss!

Thank you for another lovely story for us to treasure. Wishing you all a peaceful night of refreshing sleep

I can't explain why, but this video, and the infomercial for the Pure Moods 1999 disk set have the same vibes.
