After Peter Parker gains his powers from a radioactive spider bite and loses his uncle to criminal Dennis Carradine, he takes down various criminals to interrogate them on Carradine's location. Peter breaks into Carradine-s gang-s warehouse hideout and fights him, but is shocked when he recognizes him as a criminal Peter allowed to escape, leading to Ben-s death; Carradine accidentally falls out a window to his death. Peter remembers his uncle-s words on great power and responsibility, and he takes on the superhero identity of Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Norman Osborn has Oscorp engineer and dispatch their Hunter robots to find and acquire Spider-Man-s DNA for use in their super enhancement serum. A bank heist from supervillains Shocker and Vulture grabs Spider Man-s attention, and he follows Shocker and his thugs, protecting people in Grand Central Station and chasing them into the sewers; Spider-Man defeats Shocker in a subway tunnel, who reveals Vulture-s hideout in an old clock tower. Spider-Man gets into and ascends the tower, avoiding Vulture-s traps, then pursues him across the skies, battling and defeating him at the Empire State Building. Oscorp detects another figure carrying arachnid DNA, Scorpion, a bio-cybernetic test subject later revealed to be from another company, and sends their robotic Hunters after him. Peter, taking the subway to work, runs into Scorpion and becomes Spider-Man to protect him from the Hunters, but the panicked and paranoid Scorpion flees, and Spider-Man is forced to fight him in Grand Central Station; Scorpion makes his getaway just as Spider-Man intercepts a robot spider, wondering who is after him. Norman is fired from the Oscorp board, and takes the enhancement serum himself; he plots revenge as the serum drives him insane, and he takes an experimental glider and armored suit, dubbing himself the Green Goblin. The next day, at the New York parade, the Goblin attacks and kills the Oscorp board; Spider-Man saves Mary Jane Watson, who was invited by Harry Osborn. Spider-Man chases and fights the Goblin throughout the city; enraged at the superhero-s rejection of his offer of a team-up, the Goblin sets several gas bombs with the help of his Hunters. Spider-Man disables the bombs and fights off his razor bats before hiding to catch a breath. Realizing that the Goblin is associated with Oscorp after observing a disabled razor bat, Spider-Man investigates the Oscorp building to look for clues. Retrieving security codes to access the labs, he helps a scientist sabotage Oscorp-s chemical weapons generator; in a massive test chamber, Spider-Man survives and disables a humongous Hunter. Getting into Norman-s office, he discovers photographs taken from robotic spiders spying on him showing Mary Jane; realizing she-s in danger, he gets to her apartment as the Goblin kidnaps her. Chasing the Goblin to the Brooklyn Bridge, Spider-Man saves MJ and defeats the Goblin in a final fight. The Goblin reveals himself as Norman, and Spider-Man dodges a charge from his glider from behind, with the glider striking and killing Norman. Spider-Man is embraced by Mary Jane as the game ends.

I remember playing this game a lot as a kid. My game was heavily glitched for some reason though. When the first Green Goblin level loaded, there would be a weird sound and I would instantly die. After several attempts to load the level, I finally managed to play through it, but then when I got to the first Oscorp level, my game crashed a few minutes into the level and I lost all my progress. Another problem was that after a few months of owning the game, all of the non-story levels except for the Big Brawl would crash when trying to play them. I didn't play the version on the PC again after that.
12+ years later, I bought the game for PS2 and finally beat the game for the first time!

I remember when I was like 5 playing this game for the first time and was stuck on the shocker fight for weeks, I remember it took me months to beat this game, and shocker was a big contributor to that. I think I must have just not realized there was anything else you could do other than just try to run from cover to cover and trying just sprinting straight at him each time.

Few minutes in and amazing how much I forgot about this game. I remembered it being far more reduced and closed-in than that first stage with the city.
Also those first basic combos, the web shield, etc, those moves are straight up lifted from the earlier 2000 Spider-man and Spider-man 2: Enter Electro games.

So realistic gameeee. If it was done today, it would be great. Nowadays suits have low details and too clean textures. Textures and modelling in this game is really greattt compared to spiderman 2 and 3 gamessssssssss. Sky looks great and buildings and spiderman costume. almost feel like movie model proportions

Tobey had more fun and much more of a sense of humor of Spiderman here in the game than rarely in the movies. I wished it was the same way in films too if he got that part of the script. It feels so accurate here in the game when does the dialogue jokes.

Overclocking the emulated cpu on both PCSX2 and Dolphin fixes all slowdowns that real hardware had. Noticed this video is running it at normal cpu clockspeeds as it chugs while swinging in the first level

There's games that can give you danger like maybe the hardest settings on Valhalla but PS2 just gives you that feeling like you know trouble is coming but that's a great thing for video game

In fact, PSP is not all playable compared with PS1 to 5. PSP iron man, spider man, death, cat and mouse, devil terminator, best flying car 9. There are so many. Why can't switch do it

Pure nostalgia! BTW, I forget how the process went, but if you put in a cheat and did some other stuff you could play as the goblin with the glider and all the weapons.

I stopped playing the Game at the shocker arc. I got frustrated when I had no idea what to do with his attack. Only to realize you just needed to step to the side LMAO.
