It makes sense that Kratos opposes Atreus mantling the moniker of 'Champion' since prophecy destroyed his brother and then him along with the destruction of everyone who came in contact with him. He vowed to destroy the gods and warred against them which led to pain. He doesn't want that path for his son as well.

16: 34 ah the symbolism in this scene. The God of War who (probably) sweared not to ever touch a weapon ever again, who is tired of all the pain and suffering that comes with war, looks down at Atreus with so much disaproval in his eyes. Can you hear? He's silently saying -you bring me disgrace-.

Tyr is such an interesting foil to Kratos. Both Gods of War, both betrayed but both take different courses. Tyr chose non violence but ended up effectively powerful. Kratos chose ultra violence but has mellowed with time over his mistakes.
