From my understanding and something Joe kid does not mention, is what makes filmconvert special. models the characteristics of the digital sensors, and provides a complex algorithm to transform digital footage to match your favorite film stocks So based off the sensor you shot with it will have better color rendition to what the original stock was. Thats the whole point. Its more than just a preset it is using specific characteristics of the camera you shot with.

As a little side information: Filmconvert is developed by a company based in Wellington by two guys who worked at Weta Digital, the company that made the effects for LOTR, Avatar, the Hobbit.
Weta themselves said, they had such a software in development some time ago, so I guess that this piece of software is not going to be very different from that. Taking that into consideration. 200$ sounds quite cheap for me. ;)

I'd say get the Wi-Fi BacPac for $30 more. (Although the video has a 6-second delay, which the LCD BacPac wouldn't have)
GoPro products have firmware updates you can download. Like, the Hero2 now has Protune mode available (which your model may or may not currently have installed. It's possible you'll need to install Cineform to get the firmware updates or add codecs to your computer.

I just got the Hero 2 and i am considering either getting the LCD screen or the wireless bacpac, i like the wireless stuff but it says i would need a software update, what does this mean? and do i need cineform for any of this? because my computer is too outdated to get the program. Also my smart phone isn't very good and i'm not sure how well the app will work with it. Any advice?

indymogul nice review. Although the Hero3 films in 4K, the 12fps rate hardly counts as 4K to make it useful and is a real disappointment. Do you know if this can be updated with firmware or will we be stuck with manipulating the video with optical flow just to get something decent at that resolution?

What type of computer system do you use, I use a older 2. 4 macbook pro, it doesn't handle more the the 1080 at 30 fps, it starts skipping if I use a different fps. Also do you recommend a good software for slowness, super smooth slow is what I'm looking for without paying the twixtor price.

We just made a video using the gopro hero 3 and the gopro hero, with a little color correction and using the same frame rates both actually still look pretty sick! however when it came time to slow things down you could really see the difference. Left the video as a response, check it out!

I have the GoPro3 and just did an update. I think the Hero2 will work the same way. plug the camera into the USB port, start Internet Explorer and go to the GoPro page. find SOFTWARE UPDATE. It will detect the camera and upgrade it. You then restart the camera and wait. Done.

cool video love that cat lol, can anybody tell me how i can tryout a used gopro off craigslist so i know im not just handing somebody 175 bucks and possibly for a camera that doesnt work? i'm just learning about these cool cameras and dont want to get ripped off, thanks everyone

I saw a lot of negative reviews on amazon for the Hero3 Black Edition. Similar problems from a lot of users: freezes or doesn't turn on sometimes. Have you experienced any issues with it and/or have you updated it with any firmware updates? Thanks.

You can turn on Protune mode, to record at a higher bitrate. That's really it. Just play to the camera's strengths. Don't shoot in dark rooms.
The first thing I turn off on the GoPro is the beep sound. Drives me crazy.

Seems logical that 4K should mean 4, 000 pixels tall (because 480, 720, 1080 all refer to vertical pixels, but when we say 4K or 2K, we're talking about horizontal pixels. (Meaning 2K is roughly the same thing as 1080)

I'm not sure why anyone would buy film convert. as far as I can tell its $200 for a piece of software to do colour correction for you. seems like an over priced option for lazy people?
