Sony A7R IV: Highest Resolution Full Frame Mirrorless Indy News Photographic: The prices for REDMags & MiniMags have always been insane. Even on the RED One, the CF cards were proprietary and overpriced. Recording variable bitrate RAW and ProRes proxies at the same time is a lot, even for an SSD, I'm glad RED guarantees that the MiniMags are reliable. Most things with RED have unique ports that require specialty RED cables, that are extremely overpriced. This has always everyone. Before launching their company, RED spent years developing the first compressed RAW, .R3D, file, compressing the image without major loss in quality. I wonder if they are still paying off this technological development. When BlackMagic introduced their compressed RAW last year, RED initially tried to stop them, as they had a unique market on compressed RAW. I'm not sure if the patents didn't hold up, or if the concept was then determined to be non-patentable, but now any company can develop compressed RAW. I'm glad RED has dropped the price on the MiniMags. I wonder where RED now stands as a company with compressed RAW potentially being everywhere in a few years and 6k and 8k soon flooding the low-end professional market. Will RED continue to offer high-end cameras for VFX and Hollywood productions, or if they will attempt again to pursue the lower-end professional market, like they did with the RED Raven type of cameras. RED could offer an $8000. 00 version of the RED Raven to compete with the ZCam F6, Mavo LF, BlackMagic G2, etc. but I'm sure that they will.

What if I set the camera to Animal and then take a picture of my hamburger? RED is using freeware FAT system archiving, which is why you cannot delete the single shot and you have to reformat the Mag ahem. drive. RED brains are kind of made expensively, so it would make sense them to make money (read: rip-off) film makers to support their business. It's kinda like how Sony does it with lenses, but cheap camera bodies.

No, you don't need that much resolution if you consider the camera usage from a tiny creative box. Asset creation for 3D, HDRIs, textures, photogrammetry and a lot more, yes please, more megapixels. Prints for marketing and also more versatility in cropping.

If you shoot 240 megapixels and crop it to 20mp you will get photo similar to one shot with 1000mm lens. Without buying or carrying around this expensive and heavy lens. So it is awesome feature

All this talk about more pixels and higher resolution but it's all still 8 bit 4: 2: 0 in H. 264, grose! Give us Prores 422 in HD, come on the 5Dmk2 could do it 6 years ago.

So now the questions is. how much does it actually cost to make the RED camera body. If Blackmagic can get away with their pricing. than really what does it cost to make one?

Watch Linus video about the Red mini Mag it's funny no one mentions that Jenni tech is a 3rd party Red mini mag maker good video I am glad you did.

I'm a little worried this is going to become a shouting match between Sony and Fuji. So Sony won't release the a7s iii and Fuji won't update the X-H1.

Good video for latest good cameras! I make sure to stay as much resolution as possible so I can zoom in on picture and get more shots!

I'm glad to hear Sony's new eye-detect auto focus works continuously and flawlessly in video mode, where you at a7siii?

Thanks for answering my question from last week!
Btw, I'm totally jealous of your domed mirror in the background.

You should look at the latest JiiniMag's guy videos. There he explains what the firmware and IDs really are.

Not much of a gimbal, but that dji gimbal is pretty cool. like the phone mimicking function. Nice work!
