Well I am from Germany and this Tradition was not described in the right way. They usually send St. Nikolaus with farmhand Rupert like the good nice guy who brings stuff and the one who makes you pay for the bad stuff you did so you behave better. St. Nikolaus comes usually on the evening of December 5th. The christchild acts on his own and only brings presents on Christmas Eve December 24th to celebrate his birthday with you. Whatever Event your guy described was a strange mix of both.

i am german, i never heard of that, when he presented that story i said, THATS the fake story. where is he from? is he bavarian? in that case it would not surprise me. but believe me fellow americans in most parts of germany that is complete bs, not typical for a traditional german christmas at all.

I'm German and I've never heard about that Germany Christmas tradition. Wonder what part of Germany that dude is from but that sounds like a serious childhood trauma. Must have been more naughty than nice: D

Never have I ever heard of the mentioned tradition in Germany. Ive lived in 3 western German states over the past 20 years and have never experienced it or heard of it? Maybe an Eastern German thing?

I lived in Germany for over 30 years. That story is definitively not true. We have Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht. There is a Christkind, but it is not accompanied by Santa or Nikolaus!
