YOU KNOW?
October 21, 2023
Remember when people used to intersperse their sentences with like as in you know like that, like I went to the store and like there was no bread and then I went like to the gas station and gas was so expensive like too much you know?
Well somehow like his retreated into the past, and faded into obscurity, fallen to disuse. It has been replaced by a new word or two words. Those two words are you know. A great plethora of speakers use this lazy phrase to assume that the person they are, speaking to somehow, mysteriously intuits, unfathomably groks the meaning. grasps their content, intent, and thrust. Presenters of every dimension, comedians, talk show hosts, guests, podcast people all this ilk use this same crutch you know this and you know that.
I propose that the next time you hear someone say you know that you reply, No I don t know, I don t understand, please embellish, kindly explain please clarify exactly what you were trying to tell me. I am not a mind reader and the words you speak don t necessarily lead me to the correct conclusion that I have fully grasped what you re trying to convey. Understand, Capeesh, Comprendo?
My goodness even that extremely eloquent Rachel Maddow says you know. To accompany her there is Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers. They presumptively, confidently, assuredly assume that you know will accomplish the understanding or the completion of their sentence. It won t.
So all you a great speakers of the world, renounce delete, discontinue this lazy phrase!

The love between you both is lovely to see. How wonderful that Sarah was able to bring some laughter and sunshine to her dad when he was dying. When my mom was dying of cancer, she lost all her hair. So, I bought her a rainbow wig and decorated her hospital room. I slept in a chair for over a week. After several days my mom wasn't able to urinate. So, I helped her to the toilet and as she sat there, she started reminiscing. She told me the story of when I was born, and how the hospital wouldn't let her leave to go home until she peed. She said that the minute I started nursing from her breast, she flooded the bed. As I stood there, leaning against the doorway, I said, Mom, if you expect me to do that now, you are sadly mistaken. She burst out laughing and finally started peeing. This is one of my favorite memories. My family was outraged that it appeared I was making light of my mother's death time. How dare I be so disrespectful. Our culture has made death something to shun and run away from. Of course, it is a serious and sad time. Tears will flow and we will miss our loved one. However, I think it is vital that we help our loved one leave the planet with a smile on their face. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.

Nobody knows you better then your exes a friend said, they remain your best friends forever, it works for these two, they seem to like each other and are civil too and that s nice, too much hate in this world, I like this for a change

Okay. am I the only one who can sense a little bit of awkwardness between Jimmy Kimmel and his old flame? As if both of them trying a bit too hard to make this interview as normal as they can. That's hilarious! LOL

She seems nervous in her own skin, sort to speak. She's so real. I love that! Maybe it's a tribute to their relationship meaning she can't fake anything with him bc he'd see right through it if she tried.

woke media could not cancel her for supporting cutting water and electricity on Gaza. i m glad she didn t get fired like other actors just for expressing her opinions. freedom of speech!

I used to love Silverman until today. I read her genocidal post, supporting Israel cutting off water to millions of people. Half being children. I m half Jewish, it broke my heart

Really mature of them to still be friends along with their significant others. I can't stay friends with an ex unless it wasn't platonic. I guess I'm still immature

Love when she forgets the point of the story and is just satisfied to have yelled at her partner And then Jimmy comes in with the assist! They've still got it! 4: 17

Losing a good father throws you into a fog vortex that feels endless. Being able to nervously laugh about it displays a stoic grief to be admired.

Sarah is awesome. And so cool that they are still great friends.
I think another sketch with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck is needed again.

I don t believe keeping the exes around. From male perspective there s still a desire to bang them. It s an animal instinct.
