Gameplay and commentary on The Sims 1, covering the life and death of a sim Dreamkid: The hamster wasn't in the original game -- it had to be downloaded from the Sims Exchange or whatever with those add-on items. I think it may have been added maybe in the Livin' Large expansion pack, though. I saw it bite some of my sims at times, but I don't think I ever saw any of them die from it even though I had read it is possible for them to get sick and die from the bite.
This game was absolutely hilarious and addictive -- I would play it for hours upon hours, and do silly stuff like name sims Shish-ka Bob or Sike O. Path, or create a sim wearing a sleeveless shirt and type in the bio that the sleeves rotted off. I think a magazine article that mentioned the Sims Exchange or something showed the Mr. Sadistic family, and reading the album online is what first introduced me to the hilarity of having sims start fires, then deleting the door and filling the room with plants: D
I never kept up with the series after The Sims 2, and for some reason, that game never appealed to me as much as the original, which I went back to periodically over the years. I personally don't find it boring, and would enjoy spending hours trying to build up my character and his/her career, earn more simoleons, and buy the most expensive items (and the most expensive house on the lot. Watching these videos makes me want to play the game again. Now, to find a way to play my CD on the computers currently in my possession.

You can actually see the gradual decline in charm from Sims to Sims 4 just by looking at the game logos:
The Sims has a logo which is also a house. Cute, lovely and full of charm!
The Sims 2 didn't have the house but at least got a plumbbob over/on the letter i.
The Sims 3 put a giant plumbbob behind the logo instead and at least had a nicely shaded number 3.
The Sims 4. They basically wrote -The Sims 4- in a slightly Simsy font and stuck a plumbbob next to it. Feels about as charming as everything I've heard/read about Sims 4 (haven't played it, or in other words, about as charming as the rest of EA these days.

OMG. NOSTALGIA. IT DOES THINGS TO ME. XD
Actually, believe it or not, I've never played the original sims; -; I've actually debated buying the original Sims game for a while. where can you even buy it anymore? I only saw one original hard copy of it for a reasonable price on Amazon, and there was only one in stock. Will it work well on XP? I'm still squeezing the life out of my Windows XP Laptop, and it's actually running pretty fast. I have like 60 GB of free space on it, so I'm trying to find other things to do with it. PLEASE RESPOND! :D

I played the sims 1 with no expansions for years when making magic had came out we finally got everything but even though I only had the default game I still played it for days on one house untill I had made the whole neighborhood my self.
but I love building, so building the house to where the room level was maxed in each room was a goal of mine
while I love 1 I stick with 2 it still has the sim charm but upgrades where the game needed it, 3-4 suck so bad I don't think they will make a sims like 1-2 ever again

picked up this game again recently for the lols, haven't played it since a kid and back then all i really did was cheat, build big-ass houses and kill my sims with fire and latters (or lack there off.
Trying to play it legit and reaching the top of a career is so hard. So much more challenging than the newer games. Though, it is quite a pain having to gather 15 friends to get the last promotion. How you would even do this without hot date and public lots is beyond me.

I was so sharp with a routine. I could manage a family.
1) Sleep for energy
2) Eat for hunger
3) Shower for hygiene
4) VR Headset for Fun
5) Library to build a skill
Speed up to 3x
Repeat.
Even straight from their job
When we got the robot to do stuff for us, it cleaned and prepared the food.
Saved me a step in my Sims routine.
I miss this original. I'm still have the Expansion Packs. I'm going to re-install them NOW: )

I remember my sister and i used to play together. We had a household of two sisters and they were mad struggling. My sim had a very demanding job so she was always sleepy and we eventually had to sell the bed so my sim had to sleep on the couch, which made the sleepiness worse. One day, our sims were so broke they had no money for food and my sim was so sleepy she missed the carpool to work and died of hunger that day. That was before discovering the cheat codes

Man, I feel old while watching this. I remember playing the Sims when I was 6 years old and I am 17 now(My mom introduced it to me as a 'barbie dollhouse game' in which -barbie- -sim- can actually water plants or something xD) I actually missed playing this one mostly because of how 'un-laggy' the game was hahaha. And, well, brings back memories. It makes me sad to think of what happened to Sims 4 for some reasons: /

Yeah, The Sims vanilla does't have as many fun things to do if you want to just dick around. You basically have to decide you want to build your career, build your skills, earn more money, and potentially get married. The later expansions gave you more things to do aside from career oriented work.

I used to play Sims 1 back in the days - before 2006 - then Sims 2 and Sims 3 too. Never tried Sims 4.
Should I try out Sims 1 again? Watching these videos is really tempting me to do so. (I temporarily got back into Sims 3 when seeing all the mods for it, and all the videos people made)
