Do I irritate you? Because I'm one of them.
I had but a passing interest in ARMA2 until I saw mods like Day Z. Now I'm getting into the regular game because of it, and now a world of awesome stuff has opened up to me in the ARMA2 universe. How is more people buying and enjoying the game a bad thing? Noobs will be noobs whether they get it for the vanilla game or not, so whatever gets people to buy should be embraced. Just because they didn't get into it how you did doesn't mean they're wrong.

Yeah, but game sells but not for the right purposes. People buy the game JUST for the mod which is a problem because A) the servers are pretty much always full and B) There isn't enough people playing stuff like domination (which sucks but it's still a mil sim mission which arma was made for) or other military missions. They buy it for the mod, which I'm not saying is bad. DayZ is a spectacular mod but if people ONLY play DayZ then other missions are sadly left in the dust. which is unfair.

You can download the MOD DAYZ for free, but in order to play the Zombie Part of the game you see in this video you will also need the games ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: OPERATION ARROWHEAD, A2 is the game itself and A2: OA is a addon for ARMA 2. You can buy A2 and A2: OA from several online locations, like steam for about 25$, I do not know if A2 and A2: OA is available in physical stores, though I have never seen it.
So BUY A2 and A2: OA and download DAYZ and install and you will be able to play.

Cool video. You should do more of these. One thing I noticed is that there is no real goal but to -survive- or atleast that's how you put it. Are there any other, more tangible goals? For instance get to the extraction point which is on the other side of the map, you know, something, since maybe what's turning people off is the lack of an actual goal. I think they should adress that.
Also, if you play with a friend can you spawn in the same place? Seems like a cool coop experience.

Sadly people just don't play arma 2 for other than DayZ recently. It's a fantastic mod and all but WAAAY too popular. I just don't know if people will buy arma 3 for -just DayZ too without testing out the new features the devs have put it to the game. It has been confirmed that DayZ is ready for arma 3 but it's all about waiting and seeing what happens. I hope most of the playerbase of DayZ decides to check out other aspects of arma though. otherwise they're kind of missing out.

Though if your computer isn't that great or that you don't want to get frustrated then it might be a good idea to wait for the DAYZ standalone game ( you will only need DAYZ to play) Arma 2 is pretty poorly optimized and runs pretty poorly. The inventory itself is also pretty shit.
The DAYZ standalone will probably be released sometime in the early 2013, it was initially planned for December but got pushed back in order to get more time to work on it.

somebody in the game chat asked if you were friendly and you didn't seem to notice or wanted to acknowledge it because you were in the middle of making a video and didn't want them to become famous or something lol. I don't really understand the appeal of this game, I understand the goal is survival of the fittest, but beyond that does the last survivor get any special rewards? In player unknowns it's of course winner winner chicken dinner

Yes, well, not everyone feels the need to buy both games, especially since ArmA II improves upon the first game in every way. That's like saying, -I love Pepsi! -, but then buying Coca-Cola.
And, uh. even if you bought ArmA I. you'd still be a n00b to that, as well.
I can keep on like this until you mention Cold War Crisis, to which I'll say the same thing. You'll always be a n00b first, simple as that.

Wow, once this mod improves I think I might even play it, but right now the world feels a bit empty, I like this a lot but I wish there was a tiny bit more zombie action, not a ton more because I hate it when you have games with huge amounts of zombies attacking you every minute, but this is definitely going to be good once all the bugs are worked out and its improved. Even my boyfriend seemed impressed.

I bourght Arma 2 because i saw this video! thought it looked really great. checked out some video reviews and written reviews of Arma 2 so main game intrigues but DayZ is the reason i bought the game thanks LGR! hopefully i'll wander across you one day while i hide in the forest scared for my life lol. The video made it seem pretty scary and really pulled me into the universe!
