LGR - Do I HATE The Sims?

Rambling about what I really think about The Sims games, both past and present Xegethra: I still want a sims or sims like game set in the big city, with a suburbs neighbourhood to go to. I know, Bridgeport and whatever is in Sims 4. But they are really small and lifeless. I want a big city, with lots of lots to explore and visit. Community lots with residential lots put ontop of them. Lots of cars driving by, some of them driven by townies and your made sims. The rest are set dressing and just go by. Same for walking sims, but you only see those in the background and as you get closer to that destination they fade out. Townies and player made sims will be seen anywhere. I want it so you have to get the bus to go anywhere and get to see inside said bus and interact with the sims in it. Again the busses you get to go on would be unique to you, lets say busses on the red line, or the number 42 busses. Other busses are again set dressing to fill out the city. Your busses are only filled with sims you can interact with, townies and your own. The bus driver seems like a townie but isn't, all you go is pay with him or show your pass. I want the same for elevated trains and subway lines.
The cars that drive by could act kinda real, stopping at lights and waiting for sims and cars to pass all over the neighbourhood. But never get stuck in rush hour, that would just be too lame for a game with a really shortened day cycle.
The city could be big and open with the boundaries (Beyond the boundaries will be more big city dressing to make it feel like a place instead of the enclosed area it realistically has to be. (But it's still a big enclosed area all the same) being big buildings that have tunnels in them, these tunnels teleport you to the other neighbourhoods. If you drive/walk down them you select where you want to go. If you get the bus/train that goes down them they take you to a specific area as if it's a real line and they loop around the neighbourhoods according to the time flow. Set dressing vehicles can go in and out of the tunnels too as well as townie and player made sims.
Most buildings in the suburbs are going to be shops and houses, that you can go into them all. If you wanted decorative buildings I guess you could use them if you wanted. But it's the city that has the decorative ones really. Zooming out could reveal which ones are shops or business you could go into, or even service buildings. And it also reveals which apartment/flats you can go into that sit above various commercial buildings, of which may or may not be accessible. Tower blocks with no shops could be in the suburbs too. As for how many sims could live in the flats is another thing, all floors would be too much so maybe there could be a handful of floors, maybe like 3 or 4 at different levels you could live in using the lift/stairs to reach them. The cheaper rooms are on lower floors. There maybe could be roof access too on some of them which could serve as a mini attached community lot/park. To make them feel full off people, their low poly models seen from a distance, could have non sim sims, going in and out of it but of course as you get closer these lod sims fade out.
There could be cities themed like New York or more east coast. Some cities could be more English in appearance too.
I dunno I just want to live in a big bustling city.

My story with nth Sims is kind of crazy it all started when I was about 6 so 6 years ago I saw my dad playing the sims 3 and it looked really cool so I asked to try it and the first time I made a house I made the roof really tall --- and I played it for a year or so before I found out about the sims 4 and after finally buttering up my parents they got it for me on my 7th birthday I think and now skipping to 2017-2018 I think it was the end of 2017 because there-s nothing exciting in the gap Pets was my first ever expantion pack for the sims 4 and the best part was I got really sick that year and I was so happy because I had just got a pack that I loved and less school I also hated my teacher in year 6 for no reason then in April 2018 I installed the sims 2 for the very first time, I had never played it and I only played it once before comming home the next day and it had an error (I don-t think I ran it in administrator mode so that might be why) and I got super sad and I never made children in the family and I grew very jealous because everyone else could but I can-t anyway 2019 was a hard year for me I started my first year of high school and my new best friend left me to make friends with other people, loads of people died in the place I live and I-m not going into detail or I-ll get sad and the only think that cured me was the sims not much happened in 2019 so into 2020 so to cut this bit short in the end of 2018 I did a cartwheel and broke the disk drive on the computer so one day I took off the tape that was on the drive AND IT STILL WORKED so I installed sims 2 again and shortly after, I installed sims 1 and it was great now I-m stuck in a problem with the sims 2 where I thought I needed the graphics rule maker cuz I had a little lag from my cc and it took 7 attempts to install the sims 2 and not have another somthing that will occur which I-ll talk about later so I got it working again but every time I put in ANY form of cc or mod the game will start but it won-t load the neighbourhoods at the start instead it would just freeze at the end of the loading screen and I have no idea how to fix it and I just went onto old games download for the sims 2 ultimate collection which I had to reinstall cuz of a glitch that wouldn-t let me download it please can someone help me with my mods I-m dying to have them back and if you made it this far then thank you for reading

I don't understand people who think that, if you actually like something, you cannot criticize it or point out a flaw.
I enjoy The Sims, but I noticed that Sims 3 began to go into a more kid-friendly direction than Sims 2. Remember how Sims 2 had the interaction of Sims being able to pinch another's cheek? Gone in Sims 3. And even 'make out' began to look more kid-friendly, which confused me. I know the games are not meant to be mature or, at least, contain content that would push its rating too high. But I overall still enjoy Sims 3, loved the open world it created (even if I had issues with getting places populated when visiting them, and still play it.
Sims 4 has potential, but its potential isn't used. I could gloss over certain things (no open world and that meaning loading screens for something I CAN SEE FROM MY LOT, TWO FEET AWAY. The same sims in my neighborhoods. Lot sizes suck, and you can't really alter those. Etc, etc, if the game didn't feel. bland. I pop in and play it now and then, but only for three weeks, at most, and then ignore it again until something potentially goodlooking approaches. Contrary to Sims 3, I do not own majority of the EPs or even GPs, and I have never bought a stuff pack for any Sims game. I do have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, but that's because I grabbed the offer of getting it for free years ago.
Sims 4 could be so much better if they worked on it more, but as long as people open their wallets for sub-part items, they'll keep handing them out.

When The Sims 3 first came out, the Maxis name was not in the game. All of it was just The Sims Studios, it wasn't until halfway into the The Sims 3 lifetime Maxis started getting involved. I don't understand what happened with EA and Maxis, and why they wanted to take a huge turn for the series as a whole. I like the Create a Style in The Sims 3. Now using it on Windows 10, The Sims 3 works better, as long as I have the Advanced Rendering turned off. I felt they shouldn't added that feature into the game when it drops the game performance and forces you to drops your current settings to make the Advanced Rendering on. I think it makes them look plastic. With The Sims 4, I was not impressed on how it looked. I was told cartoon graphics ages better than realistic graphics, I just hate the way cartoon graphics with most of the games. If you've seen how the series look in realistic graphics, keep it that way, it's never going to look the same if you revert back to your older styles. I hope when The Sims 5 starts getting started they revisit The Sims 3 and improve those graphics and create a better game that they did with The Sims 4. I will never consider The Sims 4 as a successor to The Sims 3, I will consider The Sims 4 a disappointment.

Sims 1: an amazing revolutionary experience that had loads of charm. You can truly tell how much love was put into this. From the characters, to the houses, a simple, timeless experience. Expansions were great and worth the money, although you didn-t need them to have a great time.
Sims 2: amazing. It did everything that sims 1 did but better. It still has the heart, and adds more complex gameplay. More expansions, and some seemed just ok, but still overall great.
Sims 3: in its early life, it was just as good as sims 2. Although it was lacking a few things, it made up for it with completely new stuff. At first the expansions were alright, and about halfway through they just started to not feel as great. It felt as though they were just pushing them out for money.
Sims 4: boring and dull base game, with incomplete expansions and complete lack of heart. The soundtrack is meh, the characters have no heart, the game is way too predictable, and you have to buy expansions to get a complete experience. The first sims game that truly lacks heart. All the expansions are turning everyone away from the series. They took a unique, beautiful, series that-s full of heart and they turned it into a lifeless, dull cash grab.

I ended up stop playing sims 4 as a whole, I really want to play it since I dont have my old sims games anymore but after 10 minutes of playing I get bored and I already bought about 3 packs hoping it will bring life to the game but Its only entertaining during the first experience with those packs. So I completely agree because things that were just part of the game is now dlc that cost at least $20 and doesnt even have the same value as the content that came with the game in the first place. They put out games and packs that are lazy. If the packs had a lot of effort put into them then buying them would be a no brainer but the packs dont even put an affect into the game anymore and that sucks when you grow up with a game and a company and it slowly pushes you away. I would do anything to play the old sim games just one last time but I believe in the sims and one day they will actually listen and fix their mistakes. Now dont get me wrong they did a lot of amazing things but the sims isnt as alive as it used to be. idk maybe I just miss how it used to be.

Unfortunately this applies everywhere now. Even with great games like Cities Skylines, I played it on release but never bought the DLCs. After a couple of years I got back I felt overwhelmed with all this additional content and I did not want to read through dozens of feature lists to figure out what I want - just give me everything - bundle price on Steam: 202. 68-. Like what? The game is 5 years old. It overwhelmed me. What am I missing out on? It resulted in me not wanting to play a game I liked and already owned.
Well, HumbleBundle came along and gave me an opportunity to get lots of content for like 20-30-, which is reasonable. I now play C: S again, and it's great. But it leaves me irritated. I don't know what to make of this. I get the developer view, because I am one. But as a consumer I much prefer to pay 50- for a full price game and after like a year an additional 40- for a well-designed expansion, without having to know all the features beforehand.

Amen - You-re just being honest to the developers of a series you love. They-re going down a deep dark hole that-s alienating the most fanatical. I-m a Sims 3 fan myself, and just can-t stomach S4. Still holding my breath for S5. But the way they-ve handled DLC and prices of such throughout S4-s life makes me lose hope for how they-d handle things in the next iteration. You said it best in one of your recent videos, S4 just doesn-t feel like life is still going on in the background. That was what was magical to me about S3, you were in a real world that wasn-t on pause while you were focusing on one household. Build the game for the fans, get the money. Don-t build a game for money, and hope for the fans.

I was amazed that you could keep talking and repeating yourself for 18 minutes. Should have been a 10 minute video, tops. Most video game companies are now about the money. Some employees may be doing it because they have a passion, but the bean counters at the top just want to push more product to increase their bottom line, which they take out in salary to buy bigger houses and faster cars. Some of the top games these days have figures that you buy to expand what you can do in the game. Far as I'm concerned, all that should come with the original $50 to $100 dollar purchase. Because you already bought the code, you just can't use it until you buy that little chip that is in the base of that figure.

A work of art is never done but ever evolving.
Just to add to your quantity over quality. When they take stuff out that subconsciously you know should be in the base game lowers the quality. For example downloadable content was stuff they thought about after releasing the game. But when see the game become a new game but they removed all the progress from previous editions. Should be snow ball an actual evolution from the previous game. The sims 1 all content should be the base game of sims 2 and so on. So The Sims 4 base game should be all the previous games in one to leave room for new content and ideas. Not a re release, re skin, re named, or re packaged of old ideas with low creation energy.
