LGR - Sanitarium - PC Game Review
video description
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico
But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go will you let me go
Bismillah! No we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go let me go
Will not let you go let me go (never)
Never let you go let me go
Never let me go ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
For me
For me
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby, can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out just gotta get right outta here
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters nothing really matters to me
Anyway the wind blows

I only got the chance to play this a few years back and it was a good, bizarre and very adult adventure! It was flawed in a few ways and I can't help but think it would've looked better if it was portrayed as a standard point & click adventure (drawn 2D sprites & BG's rather than pre-rendered 3D BG's and 3D characters turned into 2D sprites. It had a really good atmosphere, which to me, is one of the most important things to nail in any game along with good gameplay and pleasing graphics.
Mine started crashing at some point though so I never managed to get much further than wherever that was (somewhere after the Aztec/Mayan looking level. I wish there more dark, purely adult fantasy games like this!

I had this game for Windows 95 when I was a kid, couldnt get past the first screen. Didnt even know what a point and click game was and would get so frustrated I couldnt just walk wherever I wanted to go. I thought the game was broken but I just couldnt figure out what to do. Funny thing is I played it all the time because back then those prerendered graphics were top notch, It really blew my mind. I think the only reason I remember this particular game is because of how mad I used to get that I couldnt play such an awesome looking game. Thanks for the video it was a blast from the past for me plus Ive never seen anything past the stone dungeon (sanitarium) from the beginning.

I love this game!
Played the english demo way back than and loved the atmosphere.
Years later I found the german version on a flea marked and HAD to have it.
Its great (the german translation and Voiceover is horrible but you can count that as good trash. I finished it 2 times now and totally agree with you Clint. The second half lost me too and especially the God part brings back very bad memories of total confusion and frustration.
I personally love the first part the most. The old town with these crazy childs. brrrrrr.

This is such a memorable game. The first half of it is absolutely amazing. In the big picture the whole thing ties itself together well enough but some of the later puzzles can be a bit annoying to solve (The warriors names in the right order for instance) but the whole mystery of remembering especially the key-points of the character's life that made him who he is is really good. Well worth buying this at GOG.
Too bad the studio went bankrupt after this game I would have loved to see what else they would do after this game.

Didnt know you did this.
This game. I played the demo of it. Finished the demo, Immediately went to the store, bought it, got home and quite literately DID NOT STOP PLAYING until i beat it. I seriously played it non-stop all the way through from the moment i got home and installed it, until i finished it. I think i finished it at 3am.
This game got its claws in me in a serious way it was so good. I have the box, the dual jewel case, but i let a friend barrow it once and the disks went missing. Im so bummed. :(

For those who played the game please tell me the ending was sort of just weak. I mean did he capture Morgan? Did they arrest him cuz he was around the corner and got away which we all know he was the antagonist in this game unless maybe I am missing something in this game where maybe your character was tripping balls and hallucinated him being the bad guy but nevertheless Morgan got away in the end. Did anyone feel the ending shouldve been more resolved than just you coming back saying -its over-

Silent HIll meets Alice In Wonderland. I was disappointed that it was that kind of journey. This game really grabbed me at the start becuase I initially thought it was about about a crazy guy who had been chosen to avert events in a pre-armageddon - such a premis really intregued me. I came to appreciate the broader story, but what a missed opportunity in the storyline surrounding The Lost Village. Never the less; great script, voice acting, characters, level design & especially soundtrack.

I've always wondered why is this game clearly divided into two distinct parts - the first one being focused on Max reconciling his emotions and grief associated with losing a loved one, and the second half revolving around the Dr Morgan story. Later on, I heard that devs couldn't make up their minds on the storyline, so they decided to merge two different ideas together. They did a good job, but I still had a feeling that the game ended and started all over after the house chapter.

I'm playing it for the first time and I'm on the Final chapter right now.
The level design is so good, I just want to stay in the game forever lol
I love/hate the bug sequence, I wasn't into the Aztec scene, and the Morgue was a weird Segway.
When you go visit Max's house, it had a similar style to one of my favorite game developers Jack Spinoza.
The mother level is the most disturbing in the entire game and still haunts me even when I turn the game off.
