LGR - The Sims 4: Two Years of Meh

Rambling about the current state of The Sims 4, after having just passed the two year anniversary of the game's release RyanLovesSilver: Anyone feel like the Sims 4 has a demographic gap between the other games?
And by that I mean that the Sims 1-3 was a lot more adult, examples being the Sims 1's vibrating bed, the Sims 2's woo-hoo animations, and the Sims 3's nectar, the Sims 4 doesn't have any of that adult flair to me, they have bars, which -imply- adult things, but unlike Sims 3 doesn't give you a suggestive mood let or anything, the drinks are basically discolored water with a silly name, they also have those bubble bar/hookah things, which I think is the farthest their ever going to push their T for teen rating. It feels like their focusing more for younger people instead of mostly young adults like the past 3 games, 4 seems stuck on pandering mostly to like, young kids? It's an odd contrast to the Sims 1 (and 3, where you could hire a stripper to come out of a cake, or Sims 2's romantic animations, or Sims 3's chance card for woo-hoo-ing inside a photo machine, in Sims 4, the most suggestive content you're going to get is through woo-hoo-ing, and that's it really. It feels like if EA, and by EA I mean it's higher-ups, not the DEVs, had the option, they'd remove that feature, and really any mentions of alcohol or anything that could be seen as suggestive for a lower rating so they could advertise to kids better, but I'm sure fans would riot, and that's why they don't. This is just my opinion, though, and I haven't truly played S4 in a year, so maybe I'm wrong about how adult it can get.

Still feel this way about sims 4. I went back to the sims 3 and man. so so so much stuff to do and I discover new things I didn't know about before and that is amazing.
Sure if you try to run it at 60 or more fps you'll more often than not get stuttering but I solved it by locking it to 30 (which is what it was designed for actually) it doesn't stutter. I got lost in the game for the entire day yesterday, which has never happened with the sims 4. At this point there is no hope for a change in the sims 4 because the engine doesn't support any new gameplay, it is all recycled all the time and that is telling. I'll stick to the sims 3 until Paralives comes out.

If it weren't for the modding community (which, let's be honest, is a godsend) I wouldn't bother with this game anymore. That being said, I play for a few months and then quit for the rest of the year. I mainly build and actually spend a bare minimum of time -playing- the game since it's just. boring. :s It sucks. I also grew up with the original game and TS2. and I do think it has become this cash cow franchise now, which saddens me. It really is like watching a dear friend deteriorate in front of your eyes, or be taken advantage of and used for money. Maybe that's kind of extreme, but it's been part of my life for two thirds of my lifetime. So. yeah. /sigh

Skyrim despite being a rpg is a better sims game with a few mods. Bannerlord is much better sims game. By which I mean a significantly better sims game. Sim 4 on the other was horrifyingly bad when it was released and proceeded to not get any better. The base game has absolutely nothing worth while in it, the expansion, oh the expansions so many expansion, expansions have expansions and you'd think these expansions add something substantial but noooo.
A game needs gameplay but sims 4 just feels like a gigantic point and click flash game you'd play on a browser.

8 years of meh. Nearly a decade of meh. I can't believe we still don't have usable cars but got an entire pack dedicated solely to knitting, lmao.
When you said Sims 4 feels like an MMO? That's because it almost was an MMO meant to play sort of like The Urbz or the console Sims games called -Project Olympus-. Plumbella has a great video on that. The Windenburg map actually is a leftover from the game's time as Project Olympus.
EDIT: I will say though I think TS4 has the best build/buy and CAS of the franchise but the actual gameplay loop sucks.

2020 and it's still sad, I think the team is smaller or everyone works on different things instead of focusing on an expansion to fill it up. Seasons was amazing, University was nice (if get together is under it, the others could have merged with other packs, they water down the stuff we vote for and it's sad. It's so easy to see how each new thing to the former games were thought through, had a lot of items, new systems, etc. and it felt amazing to play.
A few days ago while watching the older reviews I opened Sims 2 since it still is damn amazing.

I-ve only been playing ts4 a month or so. It seems pretty forgettable even though I really like it. I have so many awesome memories from ts2 and ts3. Once in ts2, my sim broke up with her boyfriend, and for a while at 4 in the morning he would walk by her house and kick her trash can over. In ts3 I had the worst wedding ever when my sim-s best friend died of old age as she was attacked by her cat and peed herself simultaneously. Maybe I need to give ts4 more time, I only have two expansions and two game packs. I just miss the randomness and wackiness.

The things that most people did not like about the Sims 3; the lagging, loading screens occasionally, the style of the Sims - those things didn't bother me much or I did not experience the lagging much (did not install every expansion pack originally on my old laptop; but now I have four currently installed and hope to get all the expansion packs since I have a newer PC. Still to this day, my favorite is the Sims 3 with Sims 2 coming in second. I'd rather have a depth game play experience versus having the style looking all nice and pretty.

Me in 2020: Can't wait for the $40 Expansion that I will only want because it will have fairies. Looking at you Island Living(Only wanted for mermaids) Also I am a big fan of the supernatural, weird things. Like for TS3 my fav packs are Island Paradise, Supernatural, and Into The Future. I want Into The Future for TS4 but I think they will just have even less than before most likely, and if not then they better bring back Plumbots. Simbots/Servos aren't as good as Plumbots and my mind won't be changed on that.

2021 here, I just had to see if anyone else agreed, sims 4 is terrible I can-t believe I spent so much money on this game, everytime I see a new pack now I-m like don-t even bother buying it anymore cuz I know I will get bored in two seconds because all their new objects and stuff just look so bland and boring and rushed, like do you see the hairstyles they come up with it-s trash, I-m starting to think they don-t know how people actually dress and look especially the girls clothes
