Hey, have you ever considered making a -Dwarf Fortress- review?
I mean, it's the -oldschoolest- of oldschool styled micromanagement civilization developement games. It's probably the most complex and challenging -civilization administration- game you could find, the ASCII graphic style is pretty much a rarity on it's own on this day and age, the procedurally generated nature of every aspect of it, from the creation of the world to climate variables, biodiversity, legendary creatures, commerce, world history and the permanency of events ensures no two worlds will repeat themselves ever, the learning curve is worldwide known by it's absurd harshness (I know there's two kind of people. Those who love Dwarf Fortress and those who cannot get through the inmense wall that is it's learning curve)
I don't know, it sounds not only like a source of endless material for you to pick appart and analize, but also a game pretty much MADE for your taste in game selection (both for personal enjoyment and for review material. Heck, even if you hate the game, I think it'd be fascinating to learn why. Like it or not, I reeeeeally think it's something RIGHT up your alley, man.
But what do I know, maybe you considered it already, maybe not. Either way, I'd love to know what you think about the idea per se.
Keep up the great work!

This game honestly fell flat for me. Some things were infuriating, like miss-clicking and wasting $5000-$15000 because something ended up in the wrong place, not feeling properly alerted to when tenants didn't have required utilities, having tenants move out because they didn't have services that weren't indicated as mandatory. Then the late game felt kind of boring, having to do the same thing as with previous tenants, just different services. It didn't feel like the game got deeper the further I went, it just felt like more of the same, but bigger and a little slower. I felt like the game needed some depth. Like when I added security services they should have had to do something, but instead I just dumped them in the basement to provide a nebulous benefit to the entire building and it was the same with nearly everything. And not being able to move blocks was infuriating, especially the subway which is now permanently placed in some asinine location that is no longer relevant to my building.

I just played it recently and was underwhelmed by it. I love such games and was frustrated how boring it is. Colors are so bland and grim. Offices are the exact same you feel you're just copying and pasting all over the floors. Lack of animations so it's boring to watch people just walk around lifelessly. Maintenance costs are ridiculously high and you have to pay thousands every game day. You DON'T profit from vending machines or pay phones. Why should I spend money on them? The metro station was quite disappointing and lifeless. You cannot build shops underground near the metro station because tenants and shoppers prefer above ground. Elevator system was dumbed down comparing to SimTower which was made 23 years ago and doesn't do any challenge. The dev team didn't fix any of the issues (or most) after 2 years which shows how lazy or they even don't know how to fix it.

Put about -15 hours into this game. I have only a couple things to add to this review.
It gets very cpu heavy once you build up your tower.
Construction of new floors becomes incredibly tedious later on in the game, because there are no bulk orders or shift click construction options so every floor you have to first place the floor tiles, then add the electrical wires, the phone lines, then the tv cable lines, then water, then gas FOR EVERY FLOOR.
And the construction takes forever because you are limited to only a handful of construction workers with no way to hire any more. Same with maintenance staff. I'd say this game is definitely worth it at it's current price tag, but these are some pretty big issues for me that I felt were left out of this review.

I know this is a older video, I love all of your Sim 4 vids. I-ve got the full game on PS4. I-ve been a fan of Sim City games since the first in the 90-s. Had a copy on my SNES even.
I just found this at GameStop tonight on sale with all DLC. I was there to preorder RE 2. I didn-t know anything about this game at all. But looked at the back and sounded like my type of game. Seeing your video just now is so awesome. Because now I know It is my type of game. It-s been years since I-ve found just random new game by chance that is this kind of good and my type of building and business simulation.
Thanks for all your work.

One of the few Purchases I regret. I should've bought a boxxed Copy instead! Project Highrise is great and I sped several 100 hrs. There're Mods that make more Sim/Yoot Tower like, I want that. +The Devs were addressing certain issues and released a couple of DLCs. Bought 'em all! Sure, it has a hard learning curve. My 1st two Towers were completly rekt. Unfixable. But I started a new and gradually mastered it. Needless to say that the 1st Bonus I buy is always the larger Maintaince Office so that I can put Maintaince on auto. Otherwise, the Micromanagement is gettin' out of Hand.

The lack of contrast and the muted colour palette is what kills it for me. Everything looks the same, so not only is it kind of boring to look at (which sucks when you're staring at the one tower for the entire game) but it's too hard to tell what's what at a glance. Worse, everything is just so busy looking.
I know it sounds a bit shallow to judge an entire game on graphical variety alone, but with a title like this I think distinctive visual design is really important. I can only imagine that the lack of important information compounds this issue.

wish there was a cool new variant of these games where you could toggle from 2d to 3d as in fez where you could ad a hallway to the side so it doesn't look as though people are just wondering into anothers' office willy nilly. But this could be hard to comprehend and keep track of, idk. thought it would be cool. Plus like mabe a feature where you can join two floors to one huge area, not two connected areas, just sayin.

I'd like to see a building simulation game that considers the building as an actual 3D object, rather than a 2D plane.
I. e. you have four sides to work with, as well as the space in the middle, with tonnes of layers of stuff, and a 3D camera to look all around the building. It could be way too complicated, but it could also be really captivating. It probably depends on how it would be implemented.

6: 55-7: 25 this is just realistic. E. g. most people don't know how much decibel have to be exceeded so that they feel disturbed by noise. Also I guess it makes the game more interesting if you have to find out these things yourself. Actually I never played SimTower for long because it was too repetitive and became boring before I reached the 10th floor as far as I remember.
