12: 05 I'm playing SWE1R again for the first time in 20+ years and by chance Abyss is the race I just did before watching this video. I'm glad to hear that it's the only track like this. It's the first track I've not come in first place on the first try. I had to restart a few times after realizing that falling off that stretch of track with two levels puts you on a terrible course, and the AI never falls onto it. I am surprised he played it for 40 minutes and eventually gave up. I probably spent about 15 minutes on it before getting a first-place winner-takes-all victory. Nice video, this is exactly what I was looking for.

My brothers and I played the N64 port back then. I picked up the Dreamcast port a while back. I'd say the pros and cons of both ports weigh each other out equally. While the DC port has better cut seens, N64 has no load times. And the N64's music never played till the final lap, making the tracks creepier. The DC's music went through the whole race to keep things upbeat. The DC's biggest drawback is at the credets. It has to load a new track for each segment of credets. It's rediculous!

you forgot the N64 version. one of my altime fav. race games. but its tricky getting it to run on modern machines. it works for me only very poorly on an emulator for a while and then its always broken. PC version is refusing a run at all. and thats already 2 or 3 computers i had in the past 10 years or so. they also made something like a part II for playstion 2. its called racers revenge. go check it out!

Used to exploit the junkyard for unlimited money. Go to Watto's junkyard, buy a part that's about as good as what you have, but damaged, then race a few times, and it gets repaired by your pit droids. Then go back, do it again, and you'd basically never run outta money even if you didn't bother winning more races for payment.
Such a good game.

I played the PC version a fair bit at my friend-s house on their Sidewinder joystick. I later tried it on another friend-s N64 and it was massively harder. I put this entirely down to the psychological advantage of using a controller that looked like it was ripped out of an actual fighter jet.
So cool with force feedback!

1: 30 Honestly I don't think most people are into Jar Jar/prequel hating anymore, now everyone hates the sequels. In 15 or so years people will probably love the sequels and hate the new movies that Amazon decides to make after they buy Lucasfilm from Disney. But who knows, only time will tell.

its not only THIS game that gives me all the good memories, its also all other games that were released around the time that add up to this experience man. Like you mention at 1: 36 star wars was so much better with LEGENDS than it is now with all this disney bullcrap. SMH R. I. P. the real star wars

'Bullseye' Navior is still my favorite racer/pod to use, other than Sebulba. Navior is a bit of a glass cannon, though, which requires very precise control. At least in my experiences when I revisit this game once every couple years. Navior also has one of the cooler looking pods, in my opinion.

Never been a Star Wars fan but I've always found it fascinating how the things surrounding Star Wars seem to be a lot better than the movies themselves. What's great about the prequels? The John Williams soundtrack, the video games and Darth Maul looks kind of cool. Everything else sucks.
