It still believe to this day that the PlayStation Classic was completely rushed and incomplete at its time of launch. Sony could easily wait a whole year so they could make a better emulator, adquire more and better games and add more features to its console. To add 3 arguments to my commentary:
1) In Spain, most people complained that games were launched only in english, as they were already translated at the time, including FF7.
2) Polyphony Digital declared that they already wanted Gran Turismo to be in the console, but they ran out of time to renegotiate all of its licensed content, from the cars to the soundtrack.
3) The launch date was put to coincide with the 24th anniversary of its launch in Japan. Why they didn't wait to 25? Why 24 was so important to them instead of 25?

I know this is a year old but the modding community has really come out for this mini console. When I purchased the PS Classic for $99. 00 I knew it wasn't the greatest product. However, I knew once the modding community got their hands on it. we would have something truly special. I even waited for quite a whike before I modded mine and now it's truly a mini console to die for. What's really neat about the PlayStation Classic is that it is powerful enough to emulate Sega Saturn games and we're now so close to getting them running flawlessly. Can you say Panzer Dragoon Saga and Dragon Force running smoothly via emulation! ;)

I've built a handful of pi emulators using Recalbox and Retropie, to replace the PCs in the full-size standup arcade machines I built. There were some advantages to using a PC, before the pis advanced. A pi requires less maintenance, is a fraction of the cost, uses less energy, and can be easily replaced if it ever fails. I note it has trouble with some 90's games that get into 3D rendering. I think the pi4 works better, but still has issues with a few of those. It's not so much the hardware, as it is the video drivers I need to play with, now that there has been some advancements.

I don't mind playing PAL games on an actual PAL Playstation but including them in a miniature console and then forcing the video signal to output at 60Hz (while the game still runs at 50 internally) is so bizarre. Incorrect aspect ratios and slowdown due to poor PAL conversion which I'm all too familiar with should remain a quirk of the past. I'm really glad SEGA made all their games run at proper 60Hz on the Mega Drive mini and Nintendo opted to only include American versions of games on the SNES classic mini. They cared. Sony didn't.

Makes you wonder what Sony are playing at but I think I know they are still old School where the average person don't have access to tech so they can take a great product and break it down and sell it at minimum then keep adding to it making it better and better instead of just giving us a little Playstation with the best control pad and every game ever made for it.
Shame

As with any project like this there are _tons_ of variations in terms of parts, software, and execution to play with. Let me know what you'd do differently, I'm sure we can collectively come up with something far better!
Also, I'm looking into getting a nice 3D printer in the future since I'd love to try making my own case. Would appreciate suggestions.

Love my SNES Classic, very well done, modded it easily to add just a handful of games. Was excited for PS Classic but when I saw it didn't have Crash Bandicoot, Spyro etc and seemed like it was junk, I said hell no lol. I wish my two original Playstation consoles still worked. I don't have the skills to do what you did here -

This convinced me to do all of the things you did but I had such a bad experience that it led me to retro game collecting for real and I bought a CRT. It made it all worth it. Thank you.
Although, I do think doing this with a cheap refurbished small PC with the Lakka OS is a whole heck of a lot easier and better.

Sorry guys but i can't see the point, if i can run all this on my phone for free (since i have a phone) and i can connect it wirelessly to my tv with bluetooth connection to a ps4 controller without a hassle, yes i know it's more like the original one but i still feel it's more comfortable my way
