I have at least a 100 of these Big Fish hidden object games on my kindle. There are so many by Big Fish Games, Artifex Mundi, Alawar, G5 etc. That said I had no idea that Big Fish Games was that successful a publisher.
Many of them are pretty bog standard meh games, but ever so often you come across some there are some real gems in there like the Enigmatis series, the New York Mysteries series and Grim Legends 3, being my favorite.
Conversely speaking, I love that game companies are finally starting to convert the old school point and click adventure games onto android, those games really are perfect for that platform. So far they have made the Broken Sword series, Gabriel Knight, Simon the Sorcerer. Though I really wish that games the likes of the Laura Bow series and the Kings Quest series would be remade/converted to android.

Weird to see you review a game I've actually played myself fairly recently (when it came out, and I've since played the other games in the series as well including the most recent. These hidden object adventures are the majority of the games I play, to be honest, and sometimes I get funny looks when I tell people I mostly play hidden object games. Now I can show them this video to better explain what they're like! Because honestly, they're all pretty similar in a general sense. What makes them different is the art styles used by the different subsidiary companies that make them, and of course the stories. And some have excellent stories. I recommend checking out -Phantasmat- (just the first one) - it's probably the best one I've ever played, both art and story wise.

My word, but the weirdness that is Hidden Object Adventure Games. (And yes, they are basically the modern successor to the Point and Click adventure) I had a stint a few years back where that's about all I played - particularly the ones from a company called Artifex Mundi, which I could play for free with Amazon Underground. (Yup, I play mobile) They are, across the board, such weird games, but visually, remarkably impressive given their production cycle.
Also, I kinda wanna go chase this one down, now, 'cause I have a nutcracker obsession.

Got this on Steam and played through about 90% of it last night. It really is a descendant of the noble lineage of the Adventure game. The mini-games include several that tickle little things I've always enjoyed from the periphery of gaming. It's cheese yes, but closer to a smoky Gouda than off-brand velveeta. Thank you so much for the suggestion, Clint. Incidentally, you mentioned issues with modern hardware, but I've had zero issues running a Ryzen-based Windows 10 rig.

Nice video! Big Fish games can be really entertaining with their surprisingly good stories. This one is one of the top shelf, some clearly are easy cheap bargain bin products but there's a lot of good ones. It's like some roulette game where you might win a nice Goosebumps-like pulp story.
Those games are also pretty good as breaks during finals. That's how I discovered them back then. Short, distracting and keeping your mind focused.

Big Fish is one of the most impressive sites when it comes to sheer volume, and honestly, most of their games are actually not horrible, especially since they're quite a bit cheaper than most games on the market. I remember they used to have a monthly subscription system that let you earn 'game credits' each month to get games for free on a regular basis. I think it still exists, though I haven't used it in many years.

Hi there LGR,
one of the biggest Let's Players in Germany -Gronkh- covered most of the -Grim Tales- games. He did it with a great sense of humor. Maybe you should consider a stream or a crossover with him. He could fill you in the -lore- and you could learn more about the whole series. I think many viewers would enjoy this: -)

I was also surprised when I found out that about Bigfish and hidden object games. I was even more surprised to find that these games were actually pretty addictive due to their short but intriguing nature. Though you would bankrupt yourself pretty fast if you were to try and complete the set from any one publisher of this content.

Its so awesome to see you cover a game like this! If you want a really good and complex hidden object series to play, I highly recommend the Dark Parables series they are all on steam much cheaper than big fish. But they have beautiful art and pretty good voice acting with a darker take on fairy tales.

I've never taken these hidden object games seriously, not giving them a second look really, seeing as most of them are essentially the same thing, but in this game you can see that there's real effort and creativity put into it, will be keeping an eye out for these devs and what they work on in the future
