Unboxing a new old stock Super VHS video camera! This JVC GR-SXM250u is pretty similar to the original camera that I used to record LGR back in the day, and it was a real treat to experience one that was unused. So let's get this electronic treat opened up and tested out, and record some video tapes decades later!

My first camera was a Hi-8, but then that quickly got upgraded to DV, and then that was the gold standard for about a decade, before progressive scan HD goodness of modern electronics. But I still keep a colleciton of my older cameras for nostalgia. Mostly DV ones. Some I sold on Craigslist. Kept one of each kind for different kinds of media and brands. These days a phone camera is good enough for content filming. I rarely use a dedicated camera. My floppy Mavica's get more workout than any of the camcorders. Still, a pleasure to watch this video and dwell in perpetual nostalgia.

Some of the scenes look super sharp and honestly quite usable. Like the indoor scene of your Compaq AIO. I think the improvement in capture techonology really makes a difference compared to the early LGR days. I think you'd get some really usable videos swapping out the VHS-C there, much like when vwestlife makes videos occasionally on Hi-8 and such. Really the only things let down are when there's some high contrast areas with high details, like the brickwork in the buildings, or the closeups of leaves. The extra luminence bandwidth of SVHS would likely help a bit there.

So the roxor is a diesel manual transmission side by side made in India by mahindra who was an original jeep licensed manufacturer. Willys licensed them to make jeeps for the us market. They were only sold for a few years until chrysler sued them. But they are super close to the original military jeeps

I never was much into cam corders and such so the tape inside a larger motorized regular VHS tape was completely new for me. How cool is that! PS: I bet all the kids in the neighborhood are like: What is that weird looking big ass phone you are using to record a video?

Your footage looks remarkably clear is that the result of additional post-processing, or is the footage largely as seen through the RetroTINK?
What settings do you use for the best results from VHS?

You now MUST shoot an entire episode with this camera, pretending that what you are showcasing is current and new, for us to have the full feeling of the 2000s! could be a game, win ME or whatever.

21: 51 - That is straight out of that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where all the giant advertising mascots come to life! Steer clear of that place if there's an ion storm nearby!

Time traveller jumps 20 years into the future and brings back disappointing evidence for hoverboard and matter transporter futurists.
Loved this video, Clint.

Brings back memories of those absolutely giant VHS units. I had to lug one of those beasts around on rental through Disney World. At least this is a sane size.

Definitely blair witch/american beauty vibes! Maybe you could get a plastic bag and do a recreation of that too: P

I like how everyone is used to that video quality again from all of that generational loss deep fried copypasta meme videos everywhere
