I have over 1000 hours in CS1 and preordered CS2 because I looove CS1. I've got to say I am hooked already by CS2. While the things mentioned are annoying, I have faith in the developer that they will address these issues in the future. I already have a city with 200k people and I don't think I was able to scale that quickly in my older cities. The better road tools are a godsend and I enjoy creating public transit. I do really wish there were more smaller versions of public service buildings though, as typically its really overkill to address a smaller area. The improved traffic is also helpful, and I didn't encounter any major traffic jams until I hit about 150k. Now I am facing having to do a big dig type of thing to upgrade my main arterial roads and highways. I am very much looking forward to doing that later today.

The underlying simulation is 10x more important to me than visuals. Things like making money with a negative budget and RCI demands making no sense are dealbreakers for me. This is the core of the gameplay, SimCity 4 (and earlier sim cities)got this right and I still haven t seen something better.
This looks like it does some amazing things depending on what you re looking for, but for people like me looking for rewarding service and budget management it s another miss. Taxing by education? Really?

I'm just glad you didn't go performance bad thus bad game. That seems to be what most reviewers default to, even though the game has run no worse than CS1 from the word go. Glad your issues with the game are actual issues and not some hate bandwagon.

I'd say most of the arguments are justified. However with the price tag, 30 dollars in 2015 is now worth 38 dollars. And with the game having way more stuff than CS1 i'd say the 12 extra dollars is justefied. Bare in mind workers have to get paid too!

1-2 years before this game even competes with the first CS. But it will be better with a 1000 patches, tweaks, changes and then mods, paradox has a way of killing off older games to. so get ready for that to.

This game is obviously in beta. Kind of sad that they released it. Completely turns me off. I ll check it out in two years when it s feature complete with mods and on sale for 15.

I wait months or years after a game comes out now since developers dont mind releasing a buggy mess now in days, why give a date the game is going to be out if its 90% complete

Maybe as an american it was easier to overlook, but there are also no bicycles and bicycle paths. They looked to Le Corbusier and Robert Moses instead to modern urban trends.

Good, well-rounded review. CSL 2 does a lot of cool things, but it's absolutely half-baked. It'll probably be amazing in a year or so, once they finish it.

after playing cs2 and a lot of cs1, for all that sim city (2013) did wrong, there is a lot of things they did right and cs2 or even cs1 (vanilla) can't match.

Kinda reminds me of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Soaked, where I put a pool entrance way above a path and the guests just float to the entrance

It's like you read my mind, and expressed all the thoughts I have had while playing this game. Excellent review, right on point.

As much as I loved the first game, this one feels like it needs some more time in the oven before it will be worth a buy.
