I hope they link him to the previous Iron Man in some way. Eg: the Ironman use of the Infinity Gauntlet: maybe Tony also deliberately used the stones to transfer his consciousness to another Ironman variant but with new ideas on how to
Protect’ the world, by dictatorship rather than democracy. Eg: not just a Doctor Doom that looks’ like Tony Stark. Eg: definitely an Iron man variant, but with some sort of connection to the original Tony Stark.

It could be good as long as RDJ doesn't just become Tony Stark 2. 0, but embraces a new role. Perhaps the likeness could be explained by Dr Doom getting a face graft or plastic surgery (since he is noted for having a damaged face behind his mask, the degree of which is debateable between titles) and chose that face in particular to screw over the Avengers.

This could be good if they actually make RDJ a villain and don't just somehow turn him back into Tony Stark again. Like in XMen Days of Future past where they make Wolverine go back into his old body. Having him actually become a villain and having people who see his likeness torn apart is actually an interesting dynamic to explore.

All these superhero/villain movies the past 15 years has been for the 12-16 year old audience, and the grown up blue-colored trans people. Well, Venom 1joker was pretty good and serious.
I wish we got something like The Incredible Hulk Hulk and Blade again.

With no solo blockbuster in his name for the past twenty years as a lead actor, he's the most overrated actor MCU hired.
Plus, as a Marvel Comics reader since the past 30 years, I don't think RDJ is a worthy pick for someone being casted to portray THE Dr. Doom!

I just find it disturbing how you see so much news about how the MCU underpays VFX artists and such but they have enough to pay RDJ that much along with other perks
Does the other crew that work behind the scenes get paid better

Iron Man is RDJ
Doctor Doom is RDJ
Reed Richards is RDJ
Purple Hulk is RDJ
RDJ is the entire MCU now
Just fire all other actors and give all the roles to RDJ, since they are all variants

They’re actors. The great ones play multiple roles. Get over it. RBJ playing Dr. Doom no more erases Ironman and just noble sacrifice than Chris playing Steve Rogers erases Johnny Storm.

As long as they dont EVER show his face and his voice is unrecognizable i can work with it. But if they show his face, it makes all of the previous movies feel like different universes.

Since they started doing those multiverse timetravelling shit, technically no one ever dies ask the TVA.
I'm sure there is a timeline where Thanos is the leader of the avengers

Robert looks too small to play Dr Doom. They needed someone like the Rock. I am not buying this. I guess they’ll have to use CHI like they did with Thanos.

Robert Downey Jr. deserves every penny. He is an excellent actor and with the help of the Russo brother's, they will save the MCU universe.

This gives the MCU much needed juice. Let's be honest, it hasn't been the same. Now give us a serious Thor movie and I'll be set.

We can see him in MCU again even though he will play as a new role as villain Dr Doom, our feeling like he is still Ironman

No dis toward RDJ who is a great actor even before Ironman, but I think Mads Mikkelsen is more suited for the part of Doom.
