Some movies end with the perfect sequel hook and then, for whatever reason, that sequel never happens. These are some great sci-fi movie sequels you may have heard about, but you’ll never get to see. #District9 #ET #Inception District 9 | 0: 00 Ender's Game | 1: 57 The Fifth Element | 6: 21 E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial | 10: 45 Inception | 14: 27 Et Cetera | 17: 38 Visit Official Looper Website

'' John Carter'' is a film that was released at the wrong time and the audiences were not ready for it. It wasn't a hard sci-fi story. It was more of a fantasy sci-fi in the vein of Star Wars. I personally believe that a sequel would get a better reaction than the original if it was marketed properly. Which John Carter absolutely was not. It was more of a missed opportunity.

2012 Dredd got screwed over with poor marketing. Galaxy Quest getting a sequel as the added problem of since the first movie not only did one of the cast member pass, Alan Rickman, but another was in an accident that confines him to a wheel chair.

Strange picks, since most of these are solid, stand alone films, and some of the rest could be series films with more than one additional film. Serenity in particular was developed to wrap up the incomplete Firefly series, and did so quite well.

Two movie series that beg for a sequel or concluding movie are Divergent and Independence Day, neither was intended to end where they did, the story arcs are not complete. Two series that did conclude successfully are The Hunger Games and John Wick.

18 never had a sequel because it interrupts the narrative of evil aliens that we have been fed for the last 80 years. We're not supposed to feel friendly towards extraterrestrials were supposed to hate them. Or so our rulers believe.

[Christopher Nolan] had already shown he was a master of sequels with his batty follow-up 'The Dark Night. Wasn't that and The Dark Night Rises the only sequels he ever made All of his movies are stand alone films.

Firefly needs a new season, after the serenity movie with an older crew with children, wash and zoe's and Simon and kaylee's. With the premise that a new indepence drive after the knowledge of where the reavers came from

No surprise Besson never made a Fifth Element sequel, he stole the main ideas from Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Incal. He deserves every failure and every movie flop in his path.

Jumper should have had sequels especially with that ending and the mother was a paladin situation. The Fifth Element and ET shouldn't even be on this list.

District 10 or whatever they would call it is a big missed opportunity.
It could actually be a big hit series on a sci-fi focused streamer like Apple.

I think a really skilled writer could make a very decent sequel to ''Inception''. It was still a lot of meat left on that bone at the end.

Holy crap, i just realized why Alpha from TWD looks familiar (i am currently rewatching the series. She was a precog in Minority Report!

Um, I could be mistaken but, wasn't Edge of Tomorrow a Tom Cruise flick rather than a Nick Cage joint Great vid otherwise. :D
