Absolutely love Jack Nicholson. Let him enjoy his twilight years. One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest is still my favourite film, 37 years after first watching it. Brilliant film with superb performances from Louise Fletcher, Brad Duriff, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Dee Vito, William Renfield and many others. And who could forget Scatman Carruthers as Mr Terquel and the big Chief.

Shiiiiiiit. if I were as rich as him, I wouldn't want to work neither. I would just enjoy the rest of my life, with no financial worries whatsoever, with no one to answer to, no contracts to obey, doing the hobbies I enjoy, and travel from time to time whenever and wherever I damm please. Jack Nicholson is a smart man. He's doing exactly what I would do as well.

I'm Steven Kings Carrie named after the book and I want to redesign the whole town of Traver, Ca. 93673 I live in a cat's Cemetery in a f tent and I can think of a million different things that I can be building and transforming the San Joaquin Valley from rocks into platforms soft beds instead of The Shining memory are the San Andreas Fault.

The real reason is he's got plenty of money, made some of the most iconic movies, been nominated I think more than any other actor except Meryl Streep and quite frankly doesnt want to act in the garbage Hollywood puts out. Jack was a serious actor, hes not gonna belittle himself with the type of scripts they got now.

80! His best days r behind him. hes not lead actor material anymore. period. Paul Newman said he got tired of trying to remember his lines. So he retired. He did those Car movies animated. Love that man. He just got old. Maybe he'll do a Burt Reynolds type deal. Burt did that one last movie last yr before he passed.

I keep reading something about (Im really only taking this with a grain of salt) that Nicholson MIGHT make a surprise short cameo appearance in the upcoming Dr. Sleep which is a sequel to The Shining as if to give the fans one last encore before his retirement. It would be a nice gesture but I doubt it.

I gotta respect a man who recognizes that even his chosen career in life- irregardless how much he enjoyed it- is willing to set it aside- in order to enjoy the twilight years of his life.
I applaud you Mr. Nickelson, for doing what is right for you. Not for us.

I just love when people say, 80 (or fill in the number) is not old. Yes it is! Jack is one of the very few who recognize they are past now. I am 73 and can guarantee that I am NOT as I once was in any way. Good for Jack! He will always be a legend.

I don't think he even nescessarily retired. The man is worth millions and has been working for nearly 60 years and just isn't working atm. I can see him coming back for 1 or 2 more roles for artistic choice. Like Joe Pesci in The Irishman.
