People who don't care about the originals will probably not even know what I'm talking about, but if you're a hardcore fan that's excited for this movie, I'd suggest you lower your expectations immediately. Because you're probably going to leave this movie genuinely sad & dissapointed.

The movie is just. disappointing. So much potential, so little done.
And pretty much everyone is to blame here: writers, producers, studio, even the actors. Adam Driver does as best as he can, it's not the perfect role, Daisy Ridley, I feel sorry about her, not because she doesn't do a good job, it's because the studio just doesn't give her enough to do. And why is that? Because the studio is so afraid to give these ladies real intense moments, I can just imagine it in the studio going over the list of demands from lawyers about how to avoid lawsuits from the fragile fans: you have to make the lead a female, but you can't show scenes of abuse, you have to show empowerment(no men saving her, she has to be just as smart and able as everyone else, she has to be a great character who everyone loves, etc. What are you left to work with except a Mary Sue? This is the exact same thing that happened to Jake Loyd and that boy didn't deserve any of it either.

Rian Johnson has no imagination or is just plain lazy. So many ways he could have done a much better job with characters and story line to end up at the same place with some of our favorite characters dead. He was just like let's get rid of them in the cheapest and most unimaginative way possible. If you going to kill Luke Skywalker I think he should've just let Kylo do it at crait instead of sitting on a rock. And don't get me started on Snoke. Die rian johnson. Your name don't even deserve capital letters.

This isn't to say that I think this movie is going to be bad, but Disney seems like the show runners for Game of Thrones. When they have all the source material in front of them and use it, they are fine. But the minute they start to make a script of their own, it's like they suck the soul right out the original material.

Rian really killed everything mystical about Star Wars. Now we know, being a JEDI sucks, everyone ended badly. Wasted so much time on Rose but done nothing to explain truck loads of unanswered issues. Technically its a well made movie, just a bad Star Wars movie, only those unknown to Star Wars would find move ok. I think this franchise just went to the dark side.

mark hammel was right to not like the way they wrote his character, he should have been, wise and powerful but instead they made him angry and depressed, acting like a child through half the film. his skill when facing off against kylo was on point but the fact that we didn't get a light saber battle pissed me off

The truth: The last two films were trash, and theres nothing suggesting the next ones wont also be trash.
Literally every second of the force awakens contradicts another second of the movie, or a previous film, and even then, its written like a fan fiction. As in poorly. And Rouge One is somehow worse.

This was actually the first time I found Luke likable, or believable. When Kenner first released the action figures, no one wanted to be Luke, they all wanted to be Han Solo. In fact when the actors were first reading for the parts in Star Wars everyone, including Mark Hamill, wanted to read for Han Solo.

Very interesting to hear of Fisher's influence on the final product. If anyone was an expert on what Star Wars should be - it was Princess Leia! That should be discussed more. amidst all the nerd rage for the film.

No shocker there. they destroyed the character of Luke Skywalker in the new trilogy. turning him completely in to something that would not be recognizable when compared to the original trilogy characterization.
