Dumb Things Everyone Ignores In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Aaron: I know this is just a throw away video for Looper and they don't care but I enjoyed the film and although there are plenty of criticism you can make of this film and any other Marvel, the ones listed here are all easily explained either in the movie or just by using a tiny bit of logic. Hell the video itself answers most of them itself. Since I am a sad nerd, let us begin.
1) This video explains a genuinely likely excuse, that he had it in his backpack. If not? He is a bounty hunter who spent most of his life looking for treasures across the galaxy, frequenting and interacting with people who sell such items. Would it be weird to find human tech stolen from earth? Especially as he has such a fondness for things from the era of his childhood.
2) As many people have pointed out, the creature is incredibly hard to penetrate from the outside. I imagine if the Sovereign could simply shoot it dead they would of done and not seeked outside help. Also it is made clear they consider themselves superior and 'above' others so makes sense to pay the 'guardians' to protect them. The guardians take the job because the Sovereign captured Gamora's sister and so offered to take her as payment.
3) Essentially Ego is expending a great deal of his energy since multiple parts of him are planted all over and he is super old. This is why he needs Peter in the first place, he needed help and energy to complete his plan. All signs point to his mental instability too so he likely found/rescued her on purpose to help him. She might just be the last of many many other empaths he 'rescued' in which to help him sleep.
4) Ego is a giant space brain 'god'. He thinks so little of her it doesn't even cross his mind she might betray him or his plans. She like every one else, is a means to an end. A distraction that won't matter soon as his plan is complete. Besides which I doubt he feared the Guardians in any way, so them knowing his plans would be more of a mild inconvenience. Plus in the movie it is pretty clear she is terrified of him.
5) It might of made more sense that way but it is way funnier to put Hasslehoff in the movie than do a young CG version of him. Besides the Hoff still looks great and I will fight you if you say otherwise.
6) This is a main plot point, hinted at throughout the film. Ego isn't human, at all. He thinks he 'loved' Peter's mother but he doesn't really understand the word. His name is literally Ego, a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance. It doesn't even occur to him at that point that Peter cared. Which is likely the same reason he burned through many of his heirs so quickly. It makes total logical sense to Ego why Peter's mother had to die and likely he expected Peter to thank him for cutting him free too of those emotional ties.
7) He touches on this briefly by saying he was worried if he saw her again he wouldn't be able to leave. This suggests two things, one, like we said earlier that it was taking a great deal of his energy to plant pieces of himself all over and therefore those extra years mattered. Two; that he was afraid Peter's mother might make him change his mind about his plan. That she alone nearly made him actually care about someone or something other than himself. So she had to die.
8) Others have said that time wise this actually matches up with the fall of Shield (ala Captain America the winter soldier) so lack of reaction makes sense in that period. Also I think this is a bit of a moot point anyway as you see the eruptions only last a brief time before the Guardians stop it. Not sure what the Avengers/shield could of done and no doubt they would of looked into it and shrugged their shoulders. I doubt space alien 'god' was high on their suspicions and since it stopped seemingly on its own, they probably had bigger fish to fry.
9) So this point sort of proves 2 in terms of the Sovereign's drones aren't even strong enough to damage Peter's ship properly, so weren't likely to hurt that strong monster. Also they are just that, small, mass produced drones. It isn't shocking they aren't as strong as a Ravager's ship. The Ravagers are independent bounty hunters with an armada, beholden to no one. I imagine their ships have to be fairly tough. Besides plot armour is a great reason to not have them one shotted. Hardly heroic or interesting if they all die in a fireball first firefight.

1) As you said, he probably had it in his bag.
2) The monster-hunt job was beneath even their auto-fighters. They probably only keep their own defensive systems for serious problems (like when mercenaries have the audacity to steal from them from under their nose.
3) He's susceptible to things like insomnia because he took human form (and spends a lot of time that way. Being a supreme being doesn't change the fact that he's going to be killing off huge chunks of the galaxy for his own benefit. If anything, being super-intelligent would probably make him more aware of the ethical dilemma and he'd be more haunted by it (thus keeping him from resting. As for why he wasn't worried about Mantis telling the others, he probably didn't care. He didn't see the Guardians as a threat. Worst case scenario he traps Peter to extract his energy and kills off the others. Everything leading up to that was just Ego taking his time and having fun with them.
4) Young Peter's dream dad was a younger David Hasselhoff, but it would make sense that since Peter is older, the fantasy dad would also be older. It'd be a bit odd for his fantasy dad to be close to his own age.
5) I agree he should have seen the refusal coming. Maybe he did, and still felt the need to tell Peter anyway. As stated earlier, the important part was that Peter be there to provide the energy. As for why he put the tumor in in the first place, I suspect it's because he wanted to remove the mothers as a distraction. He probably died love them, and having all of them hanging around would have distracted him from his goal. Like I mentioned earlier, he probably does have a sense of empathy, and having all of his lovers hanging around would have reminded him of the evil of what he was doing.
And for why he didn't wait for them to die of old age. He could have probably used his powers to prolong their life. Extending the distraction forever.
6) This one is weird. I agree. But it's a problem that extends beyond just this film. Marvel seems very cautious at acknowledging too much happening across it's movies and TV shows.
7) Hmm, that one's also true. You could make up something like, Peter discovered some super armor on a previous adventure that gave his ship ultra resistance. But it is sort of pulling an excuse out of one's ass.

1. Peter's not attached to it since he's connected with the music that reminds him of his mother, not the objects themselves.
2. They consider themselves above doing the dirty work. The guardians are not good people, so of course they're okay with paying them to risk their lives.
3. Either he's always been finding empaths to help him sleep, or he didn't which goes some way to explaining why he's completely insane. He let her hang around with the guardians because he presumably intimidated her into silence. He is basically a god, after all.
4. The Hoff that Peter remembers is too young to be the 35ish year old Peters father. Of course he's aged up.
5. Ego doesn't understand love, he has no parents. He naturally assumes Peter will put godhood above sentimentality and revenge.
6. Who says they didn't notice? It's not like Cap could punch the goo away.
7. It's obvious the Sovereign put faith in Victory by Numbers - there's no reason to assume those tiny ships are anywhere near strong enough to harm
a fairly big ship that was used by a known intergalactic criminal who's been trained since childhood in maintenance and piloting.

1. Starlord misses Earth. Just because his favorite possession is his Walkman, it doesn't mean he wouldn't treasure anything else from home.
2. The Sovereigns paid the Guardians not only because they don't want to risk their own lives, but also because their technology--while remote control--isn't precise enough to operate in such a populated area.
3. Ego is under constant pressure maintaining his humanoid form because it doesn't come naturally to him. That's why he needs mantis. (He's also overconfident)
4. True about Hasselhoff, but as you said, they made the right decision.
5. Ego spills the secret because he's overconfident. Pride is Ego's greatest failing, which also explains his impatience. He killed Quill's mother not for himself, but so that Quill would be completely detached from Earth.
6. The greatest thing about the Guardians of the Galaxy is their distance from the other MCU properties. They feel like new and original stories instead of Avengers crossovers--something sure to change with the upcoming Infinity War.
7. The Milano was also a much bigger--and therefore more heavily shielded--craft than the Sovereigns.

1) Yes it's can be assumed Peter had it on his person when he was abducted.
2) The hide of the beast is not easily penetrable. No remote controlled aircraft is going to shoot it down. Plus why risk your own resources for one beast when you can hire someone else to do it?
3) Putting out all that energy throughout the universe and extending his life force to Peter would definitely take a lot out of a celestial.
3. 5) Ego is so confident in his plan that he's too short sighted to see the risk with letting Mantis converse with the Guardians.
4) Going for the fatherly look. Why would he appear to Peter as someone around Peter's age?
5) Ego is a celestial, a being that has surpassed emotional attachments. He thought since Peter's part him and half-celestial he would think the same way. He was wrong.
6) Collapse of an intelligence bureau and near treasonous actions of Captain America would be more significant than some blue alien goo that was resolved in mere minutes.
7) A manned vehicle is designed to take more hits than remote controlled vehicles.

they choose the misfit because the monster they are fighting is really the soul of star-lord who because of his noble quest is seen as a monster to him, his father is the head and the queen, not really his father and the recruitment or conversions continues their as to the reason the dont use there remote controll ships. the world may never know. the light orbs around the battle field table is reminiscent to their ships and shows that compared to the monster they are insufficient, the monster emits light beams in sound, however theres is iff a differrnt frequency and hue, so they abhor it, its either to get in tune tio the organic light or continue beaming their laser space light, it seems like they chose the latter and have decide that faith for all the galaxy. the faction of starlord however have a diff creed and move with the ships whilts they don, t they use sentinels from paradisw

Ah. yeah. The reason the Sovereign hire them is mentioned. and also referred to later on.
When they're being attacked at first, one of the. officers. of the Sovereign explains that the batteries are 'very combustible'.
If you have a more localized group defending the batteries there's less risk than blasting from a moving vehicle, and also one of the reasons the High Priestess tells them she could not risk the Sovereign people was that there was a high risk either the beast would kill them or the batteries would explode.

The weapons couldn't penetrate the creatures skin you saw them firing hundreds of rounds at it during the opening if you weren't just focusing on baby Groot dancing the entire time. So the ship really couldn't do all that much against it. They also had Nebula who had a bounty on her head that they wanted to collect so it was a trade off you do this and get this in return. Also killing off Quills mom meant that he had no real reason to go back to earth since there was nothing there for him.

When ego brings his son into a room that has multiple holograms of the creation of their existence. I thought it was kinda strange to have a room just for that purpose. Also why there'd be multiple holograms for just one motion in the event of the past. One could argue for eye candy for his son if he ever found him and that he just created that room as they were just walking up to it. Ego is a god after all
reply

The guardians are doing the sovereigns work because just that they couldn't risk anyone dying you had to get up close and personal with that creature in order to kill him those ships wouldn't have cut through his skin or got close enough to see his weak spot, pay attention to your movie also old hastle hoff because he sees everything including what he looks like now, looper not checking the source material
