Casting Replacements That Derailed The Actor's Career Last: Megan Fox was hot before all that plastic surgery. I wonder if she honestly believes she looks better now because she doesn't. She ruined herself but hopefully she's happy regardless. I don't wish her any ill will obviously but damn. She had to know she was hot before so why even bother with surgery? Real women who arent fake and plastic are hot and a lot of it has to do with the fact that they look real. Things like a nose or lips being real is a reason why they are hot. Even if their nose or whatever is flawed in the eyes of the media and society it's what makes them attractive or cute or whatever and gives them their look. Whether it be the cute girl, the hot girl, the girl next door look, etc.

I disagree with what Looper assumes Mathew Modine's career would have been. He's one of those laid back actors. If he had wanted some of those types of roles he would have went for them. Not every actor wants a nonstop career of blockbusters playing basically the same character film after film. Anyone that has never seen young Mathew Modine in Birdy' it's your loss. He should have been nominated for an Oscar. He should always be proud to have done that. I know he's most proud of his family having been married to the same woman for 39 yrs with 2 kids. Tom Cruise can't keep a wife and hasn't seen his youngest child in over 5 yrs. Winner: Mathew Modine.

Emilia Clarke's post Game of Thrones career is questionable because her onscreen appearances so far hasn't been that stellar and it's the flip side of being on a hit TV franchise. Actors who lost a role that became iconic in retrospect weren't likely right for the role from the start and a miscasting one can often drag down a entire film/series because of it. Indeed reimagine nearly any actor who lost a role or put another who might of been asked but passed and it's truly cringe worthy. To be fair actors rarely vanish into a role and we often see them first not the character their playing which is why many have a career in the first place.

They forgot to mention that Stuart Townsend was actually in attendance at The Oscars the night that The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King famously swept The Academy Awards. He was dating Charlize Theron at that time who also won that very night for her leading role in Monster.
For him to sit there the whole time & see his almost co-stars & almost co-workers go up there thru out the entire night collecting Oscar after Oscar after Oscar than top it all off with Steven Spielberg himself awarding Peter Jackson & company the Best Picture Oscar, it must have felt like a death by a thousand cuts for poor Stuart.

George Lazenby -- 'James Bond 007' in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'
He was arguably one of the best Bonds' and was invited to reprise the role in 'Diamonds Are Forever' (for which Connery returned. but allegedly turned it down because he thought he'd made his mark in the industry as Bond, could do better without it! What an idiot!
Sean Connery was not the first choice for 'Dr No' (the first Bond movie in the franchise) either. I understand other actors were approached. Patrick McGoohan ('Danger Man' & and the cult TV series, 'The Prisoner') was one of the forerunners but he turned it down. the TWIT!
: -) R.

You jump around a bit, here. Only Megan Fox's carreer was derailed by a replacement. which was actually a high profile firing, not a scheduling conflict or something similar. And Modine never had the role if he turned it down, so how was he replaced? As for the rest, their carreers carried on their course, albeit not as high profile as it might have been. And, you're assuming that the character would be the same with the other actor. Cruise's charisma made Top Gun, or example. otherwise, you have Iron Eagle. Lame.

I disagree with star wars. Literally anyone could have played Mark and Carrie's roles. They were unknown newbies and went on to virtually have no acting careers the rest of their lives. Fisher was cast in many films but never as the lead and nothing really noteworthy. She complained all her life that star wars pigeonholed her and ruined her career. Hamill was just a horrible wooden actor who's greatest achievement will be the voice of joker in the animated batman series.

Who is pissed off with the Amazon Primes incessant advertising their flop show Four More Shots Please. Earlier in the month of Marvh it was the Nokia 6. 1 unskippable ads before the video started. Now in May 2019 Amazon Primes 4 more shots. is trying to piss us off. Hey Amazon, one word of advice. please stop being in our face constantly with the ad for this show. Its fcuking irritating. You guys are earning a lot of negative vibes from the viewers.

I think it's interesting that Mathew Modine turned down Top Gun because it was too pro-military, but accepted the role in Full Metal Jacket. I understand that Full Metal Jacket was probably intended to be anti-Vietnam and anti-military (as was the book The Short Timers) but neither turned out to be the case. I don't think there is a Marine anywhere who hasn't watched that movie a hundred times and it turned out to be very PRO-Marines.

This Monday morning quarterbacking is kind of ridiculous. Some of these movies may have failed if they hadn't recast, while with others, it wouldn't have made a difference who had been cast. Some actors become huge despite missing the role of a lifetime. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were the leads in Star Wars, but what had they really done since? Kurt Russell auditioned for Han Solo, yet he's done pretty well for himself.
