so I stopped watching this show a long time ago, I think it was after Tony left, but then I heard that Abby was leaving so I was gonna watch that last season with her then I forgot and then I saw Ziva was coming back, so I decided to finally get back to it. I just finished watching Abby's last episode and oh boy I cried, I was so emotional, her departure was so bittersweet, on one had because she was one of my favorites and Im gonna miss her but also because I got to see that is true that Pauley and Mark Harmon dont get along anymore, I didnt wanted to believe it, but they didnt have scenes together the entire season and the goodbye between their characters was even sadder because that thing became more than obvious. Abby said goodbye to Gibbs through A LETTER. and they just saw and smile to each other through a window FROM THE DISTANCE. we didnt have a hug or anything between them, they only showed some cute moments that their characters shared a long time ago, and that was it. and it hurt, it was so obvious I believe that yeah Pauley wasnt going to stay on the show forever and that she was going to leave and move on at some point and that time came, but I'm sad to also realize that she and Mark probably didnt endup on the best terms, and it looks like that made her to finally decide to leave!
pd: now I dont know if I should just skip season 16 and just watch season 17, because thats when Ziva returns!

Personally, I was expecting Pauley to leave NCIS and join the cast of NCIS New Orleans. It would have made perfect sense and Pauley wouldn't have been lying about leaving NCIS. NCIS is one show, NOLA is another. Same franchise, different shows.
Here is why it would have made sense: Abby is from New Orleans. Her brother Luca still lives in New Orleans. NOLA doesn't have a full time forensic scientist now that Sebastian is a field agent. He fills in as their forensic scientist doing double duty, but Abby joining the crew would have freed him up to be a full time agent. She'd still be working for the same employer just out of a different office. And they could have explained her moving from DC to NO by having something happen to Luca, something where Abby would want to be close to him, perhaps having to care for him.
And, since the apparent REAL reason for Pauley quitting is because of a skiff with Mark Harmon over his dog, she wouldn't be working directly with Harmon anymore (other than Harmon being NOLA's producer.

Of course, none of this video is true. It is now public knowledge about Mark Harmon bringing his dog on set, and how it bit a crew member (causing 16 stitches to be required, and how Perrettte went insane when all he did was 'apologize' for the dog bite, and tensions got so high, that she wouldn't do scenes with Harmon or even sit at the table with him for daily readings, so Harmon got pissed and her contract was NOT renewed. welcome to 'show your ass, and lose your job', Pauley.

Paulville,
As a female character she is most likely to be killed. The writers of NCIS really don't like women. Kate took a bullet between the eyes, the woman director went senile and was then killed, Ziva was just burnt alive offscreen even though her character had moved on (apparently pregnant with Tony's kid. Wasn't the current director's wife killed off too? That new girl better watch out, they'll probably have her gangraped to death by some marines or something.

It would've been better if her character had not returned for her last season, maybe given her a promotion or some other reason for her being gone, as it became painfully obvious as the season went on there was bad blood between Perrette and Mark Harmon. Abby and Gibbs, two characters who had previously been like father and daughter, suddenly never shared a scene face to face, ever. It was sad and embarrassing.

If you go back into the first season opening credits, Sean Murray (McGee) is not listed in the sequence with the regular cast. So, he was not there in the beginning as an original. The only ones listed in the first season opening credits as regular cast that are still present are Mark Harmon (Gibbs) and David McCallum (Ducky.
And Pauley Perrette just felt it was time to leave. That's her decision to make.

I find I must be content to watch NCIS reruns seasons 1 through 10 because I do NOT like the new cast members at all! I understand my favorites have their lives to live and I respect their right to leave the show. I'll just continue to watch NCIS: Los Angeles and a couple of others I've become attached to, but I'll certainly miss the NCIS I came to admire so much.

Tuned in for the hot goth chick. stayed for the quirky personality she brought to the show.
Then she left. Much sad.
I still tune in. but now it's for the hot former-NSA specialist (Ellie Bishop.
(Good times when BOTH hotties were on the show)
Hey, you can't just be a clever and entertaining show - you gotta bring with the eye candy, too - lol.

I agree 15 years that's a very long stint but I have loved her right from the start she is a breath of fresh air and it was sad to see her go but as comments have said she needs to have the opportunity to do something else maybe something about stalking as its a problem that needs to be dealt with as she herself is being stalked just like many other celebs
