Actors Who Were Ridiculously Underprepared For A Role
video description
It was a blessing in disguise for the film, because the 'Kurtz' that Brando gave us was done, didn't want to go on living, and just wanted his life to end. He had achieved the greatest feats of battle, and had a tribe of natives worship his every move, and who would do ANYTHING for him, and yet he was still not satisfied, but just tortured and tired.
The sense that Willard was sent to him, almost by the gods, to take his place and end his pain was so palpable in the end, that it managed to bring a whole extra layer of 'realism' to the film.
I honestly think it was, overall, a win for Coppola that Brando was overweight, bald and looked tired and burned out.

Peter Weller trained for six months with a mine coach to get the movement down before shooting. He was literally out there in the park with a homemade suit of hockey pads, just trying to get a feel for it. He was extremely well prepared, and given that he relearned every action and put them together into a style of movement in only three days, it's amazing the performance he turned in. Day one was shooting the scene where Robocop catches his keys, and it took hours to shoot. The keys kept bouncing off the rubber glove. This was indicative of many more problems with the finalized suit. His inclusion on this list is just unfair in spirit, even if technically it is true.

Brando wasn't unprepared for Apocalypse Now. He just didn't give a shit. He held up production and caused Coppola to spend extra money because he was lazy and arrogant. Brando earned more money for that film than all the other actors combined and he has the least amount of screen time. He sat in the dark and did his typical mumbling performance for a few days. Meanwhile the rest of the cast is working their asses off in the jungles of the Philippines for months at a time.

2: 51 But. why? Hollywood NEVER gets these things right. It's always one creative liberty after another. Look at based on a true story films like The Imitation Game. Start breaking it down and you see how much is overdramaticized and how events are repositioned to better suit the narrative they wanted to show. Frankly, if Hollywood writers and directors were journalists, they'd be criticized heavily, but we're entertained and so they get away with it.

I kept waiting for the ridiculous moments. probably the most interesting and controversial was Marlon Brando but wasn't like 50 years ago? BUT I am so happy you brought up Iron FIst so big props to you! That show is so disappointing soley because someone that guy got the star role. Aargh, does anyone want to do a campaign to get him kicked off the show?

Harrington admitted he hadnt done any research into the actual history of the Roman city of Pompeii, he just figured Hollywood always gets these things right.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that we were very historically accurate.
You truly know nothing about Hollywood, Jon Snow

Im not sure how making the lightsaber noises makes Ewan 'unprepared'. He was just geeking out a little and thats okay. Hell I'd pay to see the whole trilogy with just Ewan making the noises in the scenes of the fights. Like thats how confident Obi-wan is he makes noises for his lightsaber during battles!

Hugh Jackman has never been 'doughy' - way to bodyshame. As for Ewan McGregor, he didn't make the noises because he didn't know they added sound effects later. Give a lightsaber to anyone and they will make the noises. it just happens! Whoever wrote the script for this video is an idiot.

Peeps keep saying McAvoy was over-prepared. That's really not true. A quick discussion with the director in advance, rather than making assumptions would have alerted him to what was needed. He didn't do his homework - a simple 10 minute discussion, as such he was under-prepared.

Another one is that Christian Bale apparently showed up for filming of Batman Begins overweight because he misunderstood what Christopher Nolan meant when he said to get bigger. But thankfully he made a great, and over all badass Batman in the end
