Great Movies Almost Ruined By A Singular Bad Performance
video description
Ben Affleck sucks at everything. Beyond Goodwill Hunting, where he was playing himself, the guy CAN'T ACT. I guess that is the most successful film that won an Oscar so I can see why you picked it.
Orlando Bloom in Troy. Every time he comes on the screen I was hoping Brad Pitt killed him. Not his character but actually him. He was HORRIBLE in that movie.
Jennifer Larence in American Hustler is another candidate. She stuck out even worse because the movie was good and the cast was great. It was like putting a Little League baseball player into the MLB All Star game.
The one that would retire the award, but you have to go back 30 years, is Calista Flockhart in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Shakespeare is where you separate the men and the women from the cutsie, candy striper actors. As awesome as Kevin Kline was, that was how bad Flockhart was. If you told me she mailed it in for the check I would believe you but she was a terrible actress.

You had me at the first one with pacific rim and hunnum. but what the hell are you talking about. who wrote the other little blurbs about the other movies. there were so many other reason gangs of New York sucked. Diaz was just one offender in a litany of them. now what the F are you talking about the others. Shakespeares affleck was done that way on purpose. if you cant see that. you like the sound of your own voice too much. and inglorious bastards is a terantino movie. what part of over the top 70s style shitshow remake dont you understand. mike Myers did his job and did it well. the perfection you seem to seek will never be fulfilled. and film is also subjective and loved by the beholders of the eyes of the fans. I usually love your look back on films vids. but this was such crap. Either leave yourself open to films being more than what you see in them and understand not all films are made for everyone. or stop making these judgmental pieces of crap.

Note the 2 films included with American Actors (Diaz aand Affleck) used botched British Isles accents. like you I can't, be specific about what part of the Commonwealth Cameron's character was supposed to be from. I nominate Robert Downey Jr's ruinous work in the Sherlock Holmes films for the same reason. His accent was awful, especially in scenes with proper English Actors like Jude Law. John Cleese once said he'd prefer to take a Cheese Grater to his ears than listen to a certain American Actress playing a role with a, charitably speaking, badly realized English Accent.

Unbelievable that Looper didn't mention Sofia Coppola. The ultimate in nepotism casting his own daughter when Winona Ryder couldn't do the role. Casting a rank amateur in such a pivotal part, she turned every scene she was in into a wince inducing horror show. Poor Andy Garcia who had to act opposite her. How Looper didn't include her as #1 on this list is unfathomable. Imagine how the movie would have been so much better if Winona was cast instead of her.

Diaz was good in Vanilla Sky, i guess because she basically played herself. Same goes for Afleck in Mallrats (the only movie that comes to mind i can stand him in. Myers was fine, not nearly as bad as some others. Scarlett was ok, Mrs. Cruise was ok. How about Orlando Bloom in the first Pirates movie? I truly thought they had brought him in as a foil for Depp to make him look cooler by comparison. He's been decent in Carnival Row so for (on ep 2)

Guillermo del toro is overrated. Yeah I said it.
Leonardo Di Caprio wasnt particularly good in Gangs of NY either, but the story and Daniel Day Lewis was very good.
Ben affleck and gwenyth Paltrow are also horrible in everything.
The Prestige was awesome - take it back. Her character was basically a pretty face.
Like everyone else said, take Mike Meyers back.
I will agree with Katie Holmes. Maggie Gyllenhaal was just as bad.

Goes back a ways, but nepotism might have played a part in the casting of Katharine Houghton as the daughter of Tracy and Hepburn in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? Houghton and Hepburn were related, but she was the By-Gosh worst actress I have ever seen anywhere. Did her absolute best to ruin that film, and darn near succeeded. She is unwatchable, and no wonder she never got any work after that.

If any of y'all have seen Train to Busan, it's an AMAZING South Korean zombie movie. The one thing that nearly ruined it for me was Sohee (former Wonder Girls member)'s performance. Her acting in it was practically camp and did not match the other actors at all. Her delivery screams K-drama though, so I guess that's where her experience lies more than serious movies or shows.

As a german I am not an english native speaker, so maybe that saved me from perceiving bad accents, meaning for me the performances still worked, no issues with Johannson, Meyers or Diaz. I liked them all in their mentioned roles. Also, Hunnam was great in Pacific Rim and there was chemistry with his female counterpart.
The whole clip is opinion sold as common agreement.

You have it backwards with Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The absolute worst parts of the Dark Knight is when Maggie Gyllenhaal is on the screen. She seems totally unlikable. Katie Holmes is a bit stiff in her role in Batman Begins, but she would have been a much better choice to continue the role in the Dark Knight than recasting to Gyllenhaal.
