Superhero Movies That Will Completely Blow You Away In 2019 MyMartianNameIskzjzt: I have to disagree with all the people who say that Captain Marvel is not a fan favorite. I mean, come on, there has to be at least one or two people out there who might be fans of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. If there's even one, then it's a fan favorite. So, Looper is allowed some editorial wiggle room.
Regardless, I'm going to withhold judgement on the Captain Marvel film until after I see it. The Wonder Woman franchise on TV were generally pretty bad. Compared to Superman, Batman, Justice League, (and probably others) sales, Wonder Woman usually lagged behind. So, my expectations about the Wonder Woman movies was pretty low. But, I was pleasantly surprised. So, I'm hoping I'll be surprised with the Captain Marvel movie.
As far as SHAZAM, his character has only made a resurgence in the comic books during the last decade or so. I'd come across his character in the comic books once in awhile but I don't know when the last time he actually had has his own title. His character does well as a supporting character in other titles. SHAZAM was never in my top 20 list of titles I'd choose to read. I did like how he was portrayed in the animated movies Justice League War (2014) and the short film DC Showcase - The Return of Black Adam (2010. There was another more recent animation (that I can't recall) that pitted him against Superman, both on moral grounds and physical, where SHAZAM resigned from the Justice League.
I just don't recall any of the comic books, or even the animation portraying Billy Batson or SHAZAM acting as goofy as the SHAZAM trailers are portraying SHAZAM. DC certainly doesn't need another dark character in the DC lineup. But, the last character DC decided to go the lighter route with (Green Lantern) in the movie category it didn't go so well. Maybe it will go better with this incarnation of SHAZAM?
New X-Men as a horror story? Seems weird but okay. I'll probably take a hard pass on that.
X-Men franchise ending. okay. I was excited to see the movies bring the characters to life on the big screen. They were a longtime favorite of mine growing. But, like the Legion of Super-Hero's on the DC side, the scope of the stories as well as the number of characters kept getting chaotically larger. Plus, as I got older, I got tired of seeing the same drama and angst rehashed over and over. Especially the mutants vs. the world theme. While the movies kept the drama and angst better contained, the us vs. them was a constant theme which I'd seen in comics so often I'd gotten burnt out on it.
Avengers: End Game, looking forward to it if for no other reason than to put an end to the ceaseless guessing about what is going to happen.
Spider-Man: Far From Home - looking forward to it. Just sorry to see Peter Parker's side-kick/friend still in the picture. He's amazingly annoying, intrusive, and reminds me too much of Jar-Jar Binks from the Star Wars franchise. In animation and comic books Peter Parker has friends. Why they put this character in is beyond me. His character doesn't add anything to the story except to cringe whenever he opens his mouth.
Joker - mehh. There was a pretty consistent story on how the Joker was turned into the Joker. There have been a couple of stories about who the Joker was before he became the Joker. I'm not sure I really care about a whole movie describing every detail about the transition.
X-Men Dark Force - Not sure. Don't know enough about it to say one way or the other.
Batman: Hush. - I know this was a big thing in the comic book world. I probably read it but I don't remember anything about it, at all. So, I'll probably have to dig up the series and read it again before I decide.

Alas, the original Captain Marvell, who first tangled with Thanos, was a male Kree. His fight with the Mad Titan eventually led to his acquiring cancer and dying an ignoble death in the first Marvel Graphic novel. He was a popular character. Carol Danvers was more popular as Binary and mostly because of her association with the X-Men. For this film they are mixing her up with the original Marvell and the Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock who were the true main heroes of the Infinity Wars. Hopefully they can give Captain Marvel a personality with Carol Danvers. The characters has always been something of a generic superhero blank slate. The original original Captain Marvel, Shazam now, had quite the personality. He was funny and so he was a funny Superman which is why he sold more comics than Superman in the Golden Age. I like the direction they are taking with Shazam. I hope it does well.
Dark Phoenix will only work if they stick closer to the original Chris Claremont / John Burn saga. Anything short of that will not satisfy X-Fans. It is a near sacred storyline to X-Fans and anything short of the original legend will not make fans happy, so I dont know about this one.

I weep for your lack of film terminology usage. You cannot call a film a blockbuster BEFORE it has even been released, and if you were referring to the comic books that inspired them, that is even more cringe-worthy as the term blockbuster was literally credited to film (never to comic books) from the long block busting lines of movie-goers waiting to get in to see JAWS in 1975. You are either woefully lacking in the most basic film knowledge, or you are shilling for these movies -- either way, shame on you. Some of these movies may indeed become blockbusters, and indeed I hope they do, especially Captain Marvel, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, Looper. :)

i have a feeling Captain Marvel will be more of a filler than actually being good, just like Black Panther.
i dont know why people hate the darkness of DC, the comics arent happy go lucky. Aquaman was good but it seemed to not know what type of movie it wanted to be. stil lway better than Suicide Squad no hands down. For Batman, they have to stop doing the same story over and over with the same characters. They're missing way to much, they need to step back from doing Bruce Wayne's story constantly and switch to say Terry McGinnes. Warner Bros has to stop shuffling stories, directors, actors and just jumbling everything into a mess.

Dark Phoenix should have started when she was; already and X men, would have saved time to jump into the mental turmoil hope it turns out good, it was one of the best X men stories. I do not understand the New Mutants being so dark (usually kind of the lightest of the X groups ) looks more like a horror movie but it is just a 2min trailer so we shall see. Joker lol do not have a clue some places say it is not Joaquin playing him so not sure it will do much better then Venom did. The others to me look like winners automatically

Captain Marvel is not a fan fav. She has had 5 comic books series cancelled, and the only reason Marvel keeps rebooting her is that they don't want to lose the copyright to DC. The audience reception to the trailer has ranged from indifference to out and out ridicule. In fact the review from an advanced screening is her character is eclipsed by her cat. Her movie will probably make its money back but not more. Shazam on the other hand seems to have audiences genuinely excited

I really wish DC would get their live action game together. DC animation is always a win.
As far as Captain Marvel, I think you guys missed the mark on that one. Captain Marvel's box office projections were already reeled back by like 25mil. The only thing it's going to blow away is the potential for any direct sequels.
MY prediction: Avengers: Endgame will be the MCU's endgame.

Dear Google, your obnoxious ads that constantly interrupt my video viewing pleasure has pretty guaranteed that I will NEVER buy anything from any of the advertisers. It's absurd that you and/or the advertisers actually think this is OK or that it will get people interested in whatever junk is being peddled. If anything, you're just pissing people off!

CAPTAIN SJ WARRIOR TO THE RESCUE!
.
Let's get something clear. The only reason I'm watching this social justice liberal woman in this movie oh, it's because it's the MCU and it's part of a bigger story.
.
If this was a standalone movie, not a chance in hell would I pay for it or see it past the occasional YouTube clip.
