Wait i understand why the other stones must be returned because they play pivitol roles in their places in the timeline but if 2018 thanos killed ghamora for the stone and that one was destroyed, then 2023 black widow was sacraficed, but 2014 thanos came to 2023 and died there so the soul stone was never going to be retrieved from 2018, so couldnt they keep that one as anyone who was affected by the 2018 stone sacrifice now doesnt exsist in that timeline? 2018 ghomora is dead 2018 thanos is dead, 2014 nebula is dead and 2023 black widow is dead so as of that point in the timeline no one in the past knows of the soul stone or the process to retrieve it so theoreticly couldnt the sould stone stay ejected from the timeline since cptn america split the timeline with his growing old decistion?

Just go back in time before Nat is sacrificed and give them the stone then she doesn't have to die. Always so many plot holes when you open up time with alternate realities, very frustrating. Also ruins my immersion, since there's infinitely many (or for some arbitrary reason a finite number such as 14 million) realities where everyone is alive and happy or dead. The reality endgame Thanos came from is fine and dandy for example. But it's not even worth debating since you, or me, can just make up some silly explanation to suit the lazy writing already written and published in this movie. I really should abandon most kinds of logic when i see super hero movies.

Possible plot hole: 2 soul stones
In MCUs timeline, no Avenger knows about Thanos in 2014 (Guardians of the Galaxy. So when Thanos travels to the future (Endgame, Infinity War event would not have happened in that timeline. Thus, rendering Endgame from existence as well. Meaning, Black Widow and Hawkeye would not have gone to Vormir to retrieve the soul stone. Same goes for Thanos, as he already died in the future.
When Captain America travels back in time to return the Soul Stone, he would have met Red Skull. Wouldnt that leaves us with 2 Soul Stones in that timeline?

But is she dead, Or is she just trapped in the soul stone? Because in the end of infinity war, gamora seemed to be alive in what seemingly was the soul stone, unless that was just thanks dreaming or something, but I think it's more likely that there is a separate dimension inside of the stone that the souls if the people sacrificed are stuck in. This, if true would also beg questions about the technicalities of it, like do the souls in there live there forever? And can only one soul exist in it at a time? Did nat sacrificing herself for the stone mean killing gamora for good?

Everyone is talking about everything and anything about Endgame but no one is talking about how much of an emotional ending this really is! 10/11 years in the making, the infinity saga is now done and dusted, with Thanos gone and most of our beloved heroes bowing out.
The future for the MCU is completely changed and I do not think the past 10/11 years can ever be matched again. Just cannot, far too much has gone into its making that it will always be mind blowing as to how it was achieved.

Ok so how come ebony maw, captain America, iron man, Hawkeye and many more were able to hold the infinity stone even though in guardians of the galaxy the collector said the creators held the power stone for seconds then perished and the big deal in guardians of the galaxy was when they all held the stone together then ebony maw just passed it to Thanos at the start of infinity war and before you say its because hes magic then how come Hawkeye held it and the others?

Think about this. What if Hulk actually did accomplish what he was trying to do and he did actually bring Widow back. BUT she was brought back on Vormir where she died at the base of the cliff and she has no way to get off the planet and no way to contact anyone to help her get off the planet.
This movie that is coming out for Black Widow could be her wandering around Vormir trying to find a way off the planet and reminiscing about her life.

It is also clear that because Captain America stayed in the past he was in an alternative timeline. We also
can come to a conclusion that they could have messed up the matrix of the timeline and even bring back Tony
Stark alternative timeline. However in the comics there is the good Tony Stark and then the bad Tony Stark.

I read this theory stating that when Cap went to go return the Soul Stone he claimed back Nat. they only had 1 Pym Particle left and promised each other that if one of them dies they have to return back into the future. He just stopped by and gave Peggy the dance he promised. Time passed by and Nat died. Cap returned back into the future. When Falcon asked how's the girl he didn't want to answer it because he wanted to keep it a secret.
