Edward Norton Was Never The Same After American History X marlee: I love that this movie was made despite it's hardships. I had such a crush on Edward and I had seen a lot of his films but missed this one. This was years ago, my brother actually told me that I needed to watch this film. I believe I saw this on TV, I know it wasn't rented, anyway I ended up buying the DVD because I knew that it was something I was going to watch over and over again. Feels like you're watching a Documentary and not a movie! And no one talks about Avery Brooks performance, he plays Danny's principal, it was phenomenal! But don't get me wrong, every one did a great job in this movie. It's a superb film.

I like movies of this style. It truly makes an impact and if anything had been toned down, it wouldnt have been as much of a masterpiece as it was. The end of the movie still pulls at my heart strings. I wish the writer got more credit. Dont forget that Norton turned down a leading role in Saving Private Ryan for this movie.

Norton has never been MORE intimidating than when he takes his shirt off, climbs off the bleachers and confronts those black guys on the basketball court in that scene. They've seen the team taking notes off him all game but when he gets involved, you can see they LISTEN when he talks. Incredible actor! Just incredible!

Kaye publicly disowned the film when it was released, and that decision subsequently damaged Kaye's directing career quite significantly. If you're a trouble maker, then no future production companies are going to be keen to have you directing future projects.

Well, time was the judge.
2 min. of Edward Norton's performance in that movie is infinitely better than, say, the entire Marvel franchise.
It ranks in top 5 right up there with films like Gattaca.

No tree can grow to the heavens unless it's roots reach down to Hell. Every racist thing Derek says is true. Yet he ends up in hell despite pursuing what he believes to be right. This is a powerful movie.

Ed Norton isn't worried about box office gross and is only interested in play parts that have an impact to society. Sure, that's why he did the Incredible Hulk movie because he doesn't care about money.

American History X is still a true classic and i cant never get enough watching it and it is such a tragic movie and for me it is Edward Nortons best performance he has done.

AMX is Awsome! To see Norton's transformation blew me away. I was already a fan of Norton from seeing Primal Fear. Eddy Furlong was pretty damn in this too.
