I think the splinter thing not shrinking makes sense. When Barley shrinks, it was because Ian messed up the spell, and as Barley says, mess ups cause side effects. I think that Barley's shrinking was temporary because it was a side effect of messing up, whereas the splinter was successful and therefore lasted.

The reason the splinter stayed big was because Ian didnt believe in the magic like Barley was telling him to. He didnt see the magic in every fiber whereas in the end, he fully believes in it. Thats why and it wasnt hard to figure out

I'll be honest yeah there were a few flaws in the movie and it's script.
But other than one or two flaws I'd say this movie is great! I'd give it a 10/10

I think the splinter staff and the shrinking of Barley is because Ian messed up that spell at that time while this time it actually worked.
