Killer robots, Alien invaders, and David Bowie yes, the 1970s had it all. Keep watching for the best sci-fi movies of this weird and wonderful decade. Daniel: Westworld is ok. the Andromeda Strain (1971) was a surprisingly wise movie, all the procedures, dialogue was very interesting movie, I do have to say there's a point when it gets too intelligent for it's own good. still was a good movie

Wow, good for you to mention Colossus, I was recently thinking that would be a great story to update. I would consider Invasion of the Body Snatchers a sequel as the actor from the original movie actually appears in the 70s version, yelling warnings about an invasion just as he was at the end of the original. And yeah, shocking ending. Excellent list.

Some don't like Close Encounters because it had what ends up being friendly alien visitors after such a long build up of suspense. People think that in the end there must be a bad guy if there is all that build up and feel the happy ending is a bad payoff.

ah yes both mad max movies are great. mel gibson is also a really good actor for him too. both tom harry and mel gibson are the perfect actors for mad max. too bad that tom hardy and charleze theron hate each other thogh

Close Encounters was bad sci-fi. Glad you listed THX, Clockwork Orange, and Solaris but sad that you left out Stalker, The Andromeda Strain, Logan's Run, Fantastic Planet, and Slaughterhouse-Five.

This is a great set of films that our Offspring/Children should watch.
We all have gone through all of the emotional and psychological problems that they are experiencing, but we understand.

You missed three absolutely essential 70s SF movies which encapsulate the zeitgeist of that decade far better than many on your list: Dark Star, The Final Programme, and Silent Running.

1978's Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of those rare remakes that's actually even better than the original, a definite classic.

These are movies that were well-knowned already and probably have been seen by all. Show us those that are really not much known.

If you do a Sci-Fi Movies of the '80s, you have to do a segment on The Brother from Another Planet, a fine, modest movie.
