Jesse: I'm not the 1st person to point this out, but in the show the apocalypse began in 2003 when George W. Bush was President, which means gay marriage wasn't legal in the U. S. yet. So, theoretically 1 additional reason why Bill & Frank chose to live on their own instead of the Boston QZ was because they were a gay couple & they might have been discriminated against for that.
