Joyfully stuffed with Easter eggs or just overstuffed in general? The Super Mario Bros. Movie is causing some surprising reactions among fans. Raghu: The film is about nostalgia reliving your child memories of playing the game on Nintendo console, game boy regular, game boy color etc. It's capture the game sequence and translating it into a cinematic world. That's what this movie is about. It's the actual game play coming to the screen which from all the things I have seen it meets those requirements. Critics are idiots where they want every movie to be in a academy award level status. If you don't like it don't watch it lol.

Why should Rotten Tomatoes even be a gauge for one's tastes? Recent flops (She-Hulk, Lightyear, Pinocchio Live Action, Woman King) demonstrated how Rotten Tomatoes is not a gauge of general taste, as the good people at Looper clearly state. I'm always quite annoyed at people pontificating about 'poor script' and 'character developement'. Considering it often comes from people mostly expressing themselves via abbreviations and slang words, who often can't tell the difference between 'your' and 'you're', their trustworthiness gauges to 0. There are A LOT of people involved in a movie. Mario doesn't live up to Sonic? Different people for different movies. Sonic came out first (and I STILL remember with displeasure about the fuss people made about Sonic's teeth. Talk about spoiled brats, they cannot be put side-to-side, despite the videogames being close in time (but that was in the 1990s.
'Too much fanservice'. The movie IS fanservice. We're not talking about an anime sacrificing plot for feminine aesthethics, we're talking about two plumbers, a princess, a turtle dragon, penguins, talking mushrooms, turtles and brown mushroom cronies. Really, has any Mario plot ever been Lord of the Ring-esque? Mario & Luigi save Peach, Mario saves Luigi, Mario, Luigi and Peach save the Mushroom Kingdom, Luigi saves Mario, Peach saves Mario, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and two Square-Enix characters save the Mushroom Kingdom, and so on. Mario's line of plots was never deep. Quit complaining and enjoy the movies.

I'm taking my son to see it this weekend. I think I might mark out more than him. LOL! I started out on the Nintendo Entertainment System on through Mario N64. I love Super Mario & I am not sure what people are looking for. It is for kids.

Exactly was I expecting from a movie based on a game, just fun and references. I loved it, if you went there expecting to watch something like Schindler's List, then you went to wrong movie

See the movie for yourself and form your own opinion. The End.
We did not go see Mario for the story. And if I could afford to I would go watch it again my son and I had a great time
