These are the Top 10 Differences Between The 100 Books and the TV Series! In the show, Clarkes mother remains alive, but ratted out her father for treason. In the book however, both her parents were apparently executed, after the Vice Chancellor forced them to conduct illegal radiation experiments on children. In the show, Bellamy is an ambivalent character, whose ruthless actions are sometimes an asset to the 100, but at other times lead him down dark roads. His human side comes through primarily in his dedication to his sister, Octavia. But in the books, although Bellamy is still hot-headed, hes also a more sympathetic character, and even a bit of ladies man!

Compared to other CW shows, the few good things about this show are that at least the characters are a little bit consistent & remember stuff from their past, their actions have long term consequences & they generally function well within the plot; but the downsides outweigh all that - like introducing a new minor antagonist periodically every 3rd episode just to amp up the tension, easily predictable deaths of red shirts given their overt lovey-doveyness, characters regressing & undergoing the exact same character arc in every season until they snap & become very ruthless, girl power, constant Disney style last moment betrayals by love interests / mentors / best friends which are ultimately forgiven - it's so routine that you start expecting it after awhile.

Clarke's list of awful decisions and behaviors is out of control:
1) Killing Bellamy for no good reason
2) Committing murder in humanity's one chance at transcending and then also giving all the wrong answers (raven and octavia save the day)
3) Spending 3 seasons complaining that she needs to protect madi; her level of selfishness during this is unbearable.
4) Letting a bomb drop on TONDC
5) Committing genocide
6) Sending her friends and wonkru into a slaughter just to protect madi
7) telling roan and the grounders that she will become the commander and share the bunker equally. then stealing the bunker for skaikru and blocking out many of her friends (raven, monty, octavia, kane, etc)

The books were really good. As far as the first 2 seasons its still fine-ish. After that it just went completely off the rail. I hate it when they tell you its a book brought to the screen just to completely change it. I want to see the book come to live, not a different story set in the same world/with the same premisis.

God how much we wanted Bellarke i havent watched the whole show yet im on season 6 but UGHHHH IF OCTAVIA HAD KILLED ECHO WHEN SHE HAD THE CHANCE. i know it doesnt sound nice that i wanted a character to die but I really
need/needed bellarke. damn those two fell in love without any actually romantic scenes. anyway.

I finished the books a few days ago. On balance, I like 'em more than the tv show though the latter is the reason I took up reading for the first time in a decade in the first place. Bellarke is the reason I picked 'em up.

I watched the tv series throughout the summer just gone. It was a life-changing experience that Ill treasure forever. After Ive finished reading the Silo trilogy, Im gonna get started on The 100 books. Im so excited.
reply

Ive just started book two. The storytelling in the books is vastly more consistent and better overall, though not as wide in scope or as varied.
Beg for, borrow or steal the books if you ship bellarke. Trust me.

so the books have bellarke but no Raven, Finn, Murphy, Jasper, Lexa, or Monty? ALSO OCTAVIA IS A CHILD? AND WELLS LIVES? WHAT THE HELL IS A LUKE AND GLASS? I'M PUTTING MY GLASSES AWAY I'M DISGUSTED
reply

I've read the books and watched the show. Pretty much the only thing that's shared between the show and the books are a few character names. THAT'S IT. There, I saved you 10 minutes.
reply

I remember that my brother started watching it so I wanted to race him to finish it and then we both stopped around S4 and then I stared again and I am now obsessed lol

The most pseudo feminist show I have ever seen, no man is a leader if he is he is a bad guy it's full of feminist nonsense like most of the shows coming up these days

I'm Wondering what came first, The 100 novel or the screenplay for The Matrix. There's quite a few crossover ideas going on between the two.
reply

Just got started on the books having watched the tv show in February and then throughout the summer just gone. So far so good methinks.

What about LILY? I really loved that they kept Clarkes parents alive in the Tv series but I really wanted to see some of Lily!
reply

What? In the book there is no Clexa? Ughhh i guess I'll thank the writers for including them in the series although lexa die
reply

People: Wanting to read the books 'cause of bellarke
Me: Hell nah I'm a clexa stan so the show will always be superior

reply

Everybody: BELLARK IS A THING OMG.
Me: Wait. Wells and Bellamy (and technically Octavia) are all siblings?

reply

Thinking the 14 year old would not be out there like that is a far-fetched. do you know 14 year olds nowadays?
reply

I am surprised that how did they survived in KASS MORGAN'S book when they didn't have MONTY AND RAVEN
reply

The bellarke in the books isn't even the bellarke we all would die for. It's like a whole different story
reply

Until today I didn't even know The 100 is a serie of books not just one of my favorite shows on Warner
reply

I have only read the books because I am not old enough to watch the tv series because I am not 15 yet.
reply

I am going to write a book series. Because Kass Morgan interested be to write a book series of my own.
