We all love Loreali and Rory, duh. However I have to agree with some of these comments. As I got older watching this first in my teens, to twenties, to thirties. I noticed some of Loreali's duality. Yes Emily was over bearing, and needed to learn boundaries desperately. However Loreali was often opportunistic when she needed help. She had no problem accepting money for Rory, from her dad's real estate venture, from Christopher, and from Luke. Amen if you can get help get it. But perhaps get off the high horse.

He's still a playboy, you know. Well, of course you know; that would explain why your weight goes up and down 30 pounds every other month. Man. She's a streetfighter in pearls. This scene is a good reminder that sometimes the person who's generally unsympathetic is exactly the person you want on your side in a fight.

Ms. Mojo, I think its extremely tone deaf to not only condone, but also laud the Nazi joke. Additionally, theres a KKK joke (one-liner) that kind of flies under the radar, the line is spoken by Lorelai. I dont make light of these things and I hope we can all learn to do better with what kind of humor we accept.

I noticed you didn't mention when she called Rory an only child saying of course you're spoiled. That scene makes me want to punch my fist through the TV at her. But, I was proud to hear that Emily Gilmore was a character you loved to hate -- like JR Ewing from Dallas! So, she's okay.

I recently did a rewatch and something that stuck out was how you can see that Lorelai gets her sense of humor from Emily. She's not as quirky, but moments where she rebels from propriety speak volumes about what she's like underneath all the stuffiness. Emily is the best!

Emily: talking about chairs just move them so people can navigate around them easily. not that far apart, not that far apart! good lord if someone needs that much room to move around a chair they shouldnt be at a party. they should be on a treadmill!

My favourite moment is this one time when Emily asked Lorelai if she was dating someone and said that the reason she asked was that shed been to the family mausoleum and it occurred to her there wouldnt be space for the hypothetical husband when he died. yeah.

# 10 wasn't Emily being savage. It's Lorelei being savage for always depriving Rory and her grandparents knowing each other. So much so, that Emily has to stoop to this in order to spend time with her family.
