Lets bring a little more diversity to this iconic club! For this list, were looking at some ideas for variations on the standard Disney princess. Admittedly, the House of Mouse is clearly already trying to vary the types of characters they create, but they can definitely take it one step further. One thing were not doing in this list is considering princesses of specific races or nationalities, because how could we possibly pick among them? Want to

what would be interesting would be for a princess living in todayl's world. She could have anything else from the list. When fairy tales or folk stories were written that was the modern time to the writer that wrote them. So why not have a modern day princess. Also she could wear slacks/pants/jeans at some point and hsve a job. Princess Diana did before she was married and so did Dutchess Kate. It also wouldn't hurt if her Prince was actually serving in the military like Prince William and Harry did. This is not political correctness it is real life in today's world. I am sure that a folk/fairy tale could be set in the present. Also a little humor wouldn't hurt either.
Just saying.

One line that was said in this movie is making me have the need to comment on it. The narrator said that because Cinderella was bullied by her family and the movie was made so long ago, not many people relate. I beg to differ. I love Cinderella cause she is someone I can relate to. Abusive family, overworked, made to feel like nothing. Cinderella is more relevant to me now than it was when I was small. Older princesses may seem outdated but they still represent us with abusive families and that we can come out on the other side. A lot of princesses have one or even both parents and not all of us have that blessing. So I strongly disagree with that statement.

I would love to see these people represented as princesses as it is a huge part of our loves and something we need to speak more about. Also, this isn't a certain type of princess but I want to see more publicity on the boys who loom up to Disney princesses. This is because its forced on us that girls have dolls and boys have soldiers but now that has gladly gone. So it would be nice to Disney fo show that it is okay to be a boy and like princesses as there are finally more heroic females so there should be more publicity on boys liking princess. Especially since the do see ney princes hardly get any spotlight. Thanks

You say that Disney Princesses never wear glasses, but Disney Villains don't either. The only three plus sized Disney Villains are Alameda Slim, Pete, and Ursula. The only Disney Villain w/ a disability is Captain Hook. Disney's only alien villains are Captain Gantu and Dr. Hamsterviel. The only Disney Villain to drink any alcohol is Gaston. And even though Disney Princesses rarely suffer from mental disorders, Scooch Raccoon, Tigger, Megavolt, and Gosalyn Mallard all have ADHD.

Welp the closest were going to get to a character with a mental illness that people can relate with is probably inside out since Riley is depressed in the movie
(its just hidden quite well. but just think about it. during the movie she became incapable of feeling happiness. Also anger, disgust and fear even lost all control of her emotions so pretty much only numbness remained until joy got back, so ya thats why I believe that Riley was depressed)

I have ideas for film about a princess with multiple personalities, but not the typical psychological thriller about split personalities, but rather a comedy adventure film. And unlike most split personality films, the main character wouldn't have to overcome her other personalities, but work WITH them to prevent a bigger threat. And it would focus on more themes than teamwork, it would also deal with self-acceptance.

I dont know about the mental illness one, it just doesnt seem like it should be in a Disney movie, especially not depression! Not to discriminate and the bully one isnt so great either. Why would you want a princess whos a bully? How can someone look up to them? and no, just no not an lgbtq princess no. It just doesnt belong in a Disney movie either! Not to discriminate but its just doesnt belong

This whole video is literally showing female characters who have all these traits. They're just not princesses. If parents are this dependent on Disney teaching their daughters to be more confident, then they can show them literally any of these non-princess strong female characters. Just because they're not in the Disney Princess franchise doesn't mean they can't still be role models

To nitpick a little about the suggestions: About point 8: Rapunzel does get her hair cut, so she counts as a Princess with short hair (even though she gets her golden hair back. And about point 6: Though it may not be an direct issue, there has been many theories about Elsa's situation being similar to mental illness. So those are points that are relevant.

I am completely against having an LGBT princess and I don't care if I get hate for this comment because I know there are other people that feel the same way but they are just to scared to say anything: ) let kids be kids and stop trying to force them into this nonsense.

It should be noted that, as we look for new Disney Princesses of other cultures, Disney needs to continue to use voice actors from those cultures. Having a Pacific Islander princess was nice, having her voice actor being of that descent as well was even better.

I would want the next Disney princess to be a snobby mean girl but later changes into a good girl or Disney princess that tall that's 6 feet 2 or an ugly Disney princess with a heart of gold on older Disney princess that's a single mom ages between 25 to30

I absolutely enjoyed this list. The points about disability and mental illness stood out to me the most. I mean: as a visually impaired person with mental illnesses who loves Disney movies, it would be great to see a Disney princess I could look up to.

I don't know about anyone else but i don't think disney should think think about adding a trans or gay princess i mean do you in private don't spread to lil kids its already enough messed up stuff in the world that the kids see

I think a transgender princess or some other lgbtq+ charcter is desperately needed. There needs to be much more representation for the lgbtq+ community, where we can look up to those like us and feel more accepted and loved.

what about a princess who had ASD (autism spectrum disorder? that's a mental illness. by the way, thank you for the plus-sized princess thing, that just brighten my day considering my BMI test just classified me as obese

There's only one thing I don't understand. She mentioned about a princess without long locks. But doesn't Snow White have short hair? If so then why would she mention it even though Snow White doesn't have long locks
reply

I definitely agree with you about how there needs to be princesses with disabilities. I am visually impaired and have been for my whole entire life and have always wanted a Disney princess to relate to.
reply

What about more relatable male cartoons because all kids see in movies are strong men with muscles that can battle. It creates a mind set that if we are not confident and muscular we are not a men.
reply

Disgusting video. You guys know this is for kids right? Some people in the comments said we need a TRANS Disney princess? That is not okay for kids! That just sounds like a joke on South Park!
reply

A Cyborg princess? A Modern Era princess dealing with another time zone? A kick-butt princess (literally? A princess dealing with the struggles of becoming a mother (Pregnant? Anyone?
reply

I've wish have a disney princess with a pixie hair or a twin princess but instead one twin is good and one is bad. sorry for all lgbt but i don't like some same gender in kids movie
reply

Can everyone in the comments please stop listing disabilities. A lot of people who are different don't see these things as disabilities. It's rude to assume they all think they are.
reply

the alien princess thing is irrelevant we need more diversity in disney, as you can see most of the disney princess are white we need more princesses like mulan, moana and tiana.
reply

For my diverse princess ld make these.
The Swan girl ( filipino) names Ligaya meaning happiness
The princess and the pea ( indian) karishma meaning miracle all in 2d

I got an idea: A film about a princess who gets an arm cut off as a child, leaving her with PTSD, but being forced to face her past when the one responsible comes back.
reply

In my opinion there should be a (Caucasian) princess/female peasant that falls in love with a black prince/commoner even if its loosely based on Othello
reply

But you know what I really want? A Disney PRINCE as the main character, a character like Elsa who is focused on finding himself, is vulnerable, and kind.
reply

A princess with a disability yeah, Id like an autistic princess that runs away from home because she didnt like the cheese was given one day
reply
