Top 10 Pop Music Documentaries You Need to Watch Love ya Phoebe! Thank you for doing this list, but please consider making a part 2. I was surprised that Backstreet Boys: Show Em What Youre Made Of, didnt make the list. As a band, theyve really stood the test of time and definitely deserve a spot on the list. Also, The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story. Shout out to Lance Bass for putting this out there, and producing it.\r\n

If there was a part two of this vid I think the Boy Band Con by Lance Bass should be number one. Lou Pearlman created the Backstreet Boys and Nsync, and one of the biggest ponzi schemes in history. The doc is super interesting whether you like boy bands or you don't and everyone should definitely watch it.

Britney For The Record is the BEST documentary on Britney. It highlights her ability to carry on after such media intensity and setbacks in life. She is unscripted which is the best part. Her answers are philosophical, she truly goes through life like a Karate Kid.

Hanson's Strong Enough to Break should have been on this list. It gives viewers a look at how they struggled with an a-hole record executive to get their third album made, to only leave the label, make their own record, and become #1 on the independent charts.

What about Backstreet Boys: Show em what your made of. Thats amazing behind the scenes of what these guys went through in their now 20 plus years together. Made me even prouder to be a fan of these guys! I think yall need a part 2 to this list!

My top 5 that were mentioned:
1. Truth or Dare/In Bed with Madonna. This laid the path for all the pop star docs to follow and it's still a good film.
2. Amy
3. Five Foot Two
4. Homecoming
5. Simply Complicated

What about Francis Whately's documentaries on David Bowie (Finding Fame, Five Years, The Last Five Years! True masterpieces about one of the most influencial musicians ever! Can't believe those haven't made into the list!

In Bed With Madonna defined the way music documentaries are shot. You know this color footage from live performances + black and white footage from real life? Thats where it comes from

Michael Jackson's This Is It was great. I loved it. I have the DVD of One Direction, but I actually haven't watched it yet. I've seen some of it from my niece's copy though.

So Take That's 'For The Record'/'Look Back Don't Stare' documentary didn't make the cut, eh? Not even on the honorable mentions. That's to be expected from you Americans.
reply

Why Is BTS Burn The Stage documentary not even an honourable mention. I think they've achieved enough to warrant a spot in this list. They've done ground-breaking work.

Never understand the hype about Homecoming. There's v little doco footage. Really just a repackage of the cochella performance that was already out.

My mom loves Michael Jackson's this is it. I bought it for her many years ago on DVD for her birthday.
It is a beautiful documentary.

Truth or Dare is best in my opinion, but Britney should be on the list instead of JT, the most generic pop star ever
reply

I think Matangi/ M. I. A. / Maya should have been in there in the honourable mentions. Also Reputation by Taylor.
reply

britney: for the record. an honorable mention? over a justin timberlake doc no one cares about/means nothing?
