Were still crying over these heartbreaking farewells in animated movies. Were considering all animated childrens films - with the exception of anime - and focusing on their most heart-wrenching goodbyes. And, just to be clear, a character merely passing away doesnt necessarily mean theyll make this list. MsMojo ranks the most heartbreaking farewells in animated movies. Which animated farewell got you all choked up?

Ok, so I think you got this list a little mixed up. but that aside I am going to make you a lot more miserable.
The Land before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven were both directed by Don Bluth. The character Ducky in The Land Before Time and Anne-Marrie in All Dogs Go to Heaven were both Voiced by one Judith Barsi
Judith Barsi was a upcoming child star, she appeared in commercials and as a background character in several shows and movies including Jaws: the revenge.
However The Land before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven were her first real major roles, she expressed a lot of love for her role voicing Ducky and Don Bluth spoke highly of her character and capabilities.
One month after her tenth birthday she and her mother were killed in their home by her father. Her father had been abusing her and her mother at home for some time because he was threatened by Judith's success.
The Land before Time was released posthumously and All Dogs Go to Heaven a year after that, Judith never got to see either of them
Don bluth was so heartbroken over her death he had Anne-Marie character redesigned based on her.
The credits song love survives is dedicated to Judith Barsi, and if you go to Forrest lawn memorial park she is buried next to her mother with a headstone that reads
our concrete angel
YEP! YEP! YEP!
The catchphrase of her her favorite Role Ducky
There, ruined your day.

The scene of Little Foots mom dying DEFINITELY makes me cry. Especially now that Ive lost my own mom. And almost every PIXAR movie has me shedding a few tears. They are REALLY good at tugging on your heartstrings.
I also cry at that goodbye scene from The Fox and The Hound and the ending of Toy Story 3 every single time without fail.
The scene in Inside Out where Bing Bong dies does make me sad, but the scene in that movie that gets me even more is when Riley breaks down about missing her old home to her parents. Tears, every single time, without fail.

I know this is gonna sound rather silly, but the most heartbreaking goodbye for me was when the Jammy Dodger sank in the waterfall scene from flushed away. The Jammy Dodger was Ritas trusted companion on her adventures and the way the music grows a bit somber over the scene and Ritas Delivery is only a piece of this moment because when the hand waves goodbye it adds to this rather brief, but honestly beautiful goodbye. Again i know its silly but the way the scene plays out is really effective and makes me tear up just a bit

I watched dark don bluth films at age 5. Later on, before I turned 6, we had a house fire. Having been exposed to such hard themes so young helped me with that. I even made jokes about it. Less than a year after the fire, my little sister Kayla was born. When she asked what happened when she was 3, and I told her Elmo set our house on fire because I said I'd rather watch Thomas than Sesame street.

I personally would like to say something. If the Wedding in The Little Mermaid and John Smith from Pocahontas get an honorable mention (which really aren't that sad) then were the frick is Oogway! Literally every time i watch the scene of him dying i get emotional. And i'm pretty sure it's not just me.

For me, the ending of Onward is
gut-wrenching. Ian selflessly allowed Barley to say goodbye to their dad after the latters last memory of him did not go well. I was proud of him, but the same time my heart breaks that goodbye as the sun set.
Also, the hug? God, that movie gets me every time!

When I was a kid Disney had these read along records and long before I ever saw the movie I listened to the fox and the hound again and again until I had it memorized. I still cry at this scene no matter how many times I've seen this movie that and the ending. I'm not sure which was harder

What really hurts me about Littlefoot's mother is the fact that she passed away without the grandparents saying goodbye to her. They must have felt devastated about her passing and the possibility of never reuniting with their only grandchild.

What this lady says is right Optimus Prime is equivalent to James Bond when it comes to being really good with weapons, equivalent to John Mclane when it comes to being a badass and equivalent to Captain America when it comes to being a hero.

I'm 19 and The Iron Giant Breaks My Heart Every time I watch it and it won't change even If I'll be 50 or older. it marked itself in my soul ever since I was little and I'm proud and Glad to be So Connected to it after all these years

For me, Land Before Time remains the saddest ever. Not only does his mother die, but then the movie spends scene after scene afterwards showing his grief and really driving in that his mother is dead and never coming back.

Todd being left in the forest was heartbreaking. Widow Tweed's monologue was sad enough but Todd's happiness during the car ride, completely oblivious to what is coming next? That was just soul-crushing.

Httyd made me cry like a baby. I watched it twice in theaters and I sobbed loudly both the times. And Ive rewatched that movie numerous times and still cry, just the background music kills me
reply

Some of these made me cry and some of these didnt but The Fox and the Hound hits like a damn truck, broke my damn soul as a kid and it still does no matter how many times I watch it

Msmojo: we will not feature deaths on this list no matter how sad they are
Also msmojo: puts baymax littlefoots mom bing bong Tala and Optimus on the list

So you're telling me Toothless leaving Hiccup is only number 8?
there better be some heart wrenching moments that break the dam of my soul left in the top 7

reply

Ok but seriously, Buzz and Woody saying goodbye at the end of TS4 absolutely DESTROYED me. Couldn't stop crying for an hour after the movie ended.
reply

OK, Hiccup and Toothless saying goodbye is WAY too low. I mean, all of my siblings and parents too bawled their eyes out when they saw that in theaters.

All Dogs Go To Heaven made me cry because of the storyline and the actress that played Annmarie had died after this movie was done.
