They definatly missed the girls from Starlight Express. Not only do they have do all the usual theatre work but they have to roller skate nearly the whole perfoemance.
Even more so if you go back to the original runs in london as it was on tracks that not only left the stage into audience but they had a full race track spread over 5 floors of the entire theatre

I wanted to be Christine in Phantom when I was a teen. I used to sing the songs all the time. When I was in my 20s, I could hit all the notes required for Christine, even the difficult note! I never auditioned for Phantom, but I did do a lot of theater and got to be a few lead roles. I eventually became an opera singer.

The First Lady of Musical Theatre, Ethel Merman, created two of the parts in the list, Anything Goes and Gypsy. I see Pattie Lupone as a worthy successor to Miss Merman, creating many newer parts that have become classic in musical theatre. And an equal belter to boot with Miss Merman.

I'm late but at least all 6 queens from Six should be at least In honorable mention. Especially both of the beheaded(s, Aragon and parr and Seymour are incredibly hard to do with crazy breath control. The easiest maybe cleves but i, an alto, am struggling with singing her solo

I would like to nominate Aldonza from Man of La Mancha. Having played the role five times, I can tell you that it takes a lot of vocal stamina, with the ability to go from belty/mix to sweet coloratura numbers. In particular, the song Aldonza demands so much of the actress.

Awe when Sunset was brought up i about cried remembering what happened to Patti! I wish she had gotten to preform Norma on B-way.
Also Patti as Reno Sweeney
Ooh when she broke that sound barrier at the Tonys it gave me chills!

Me, theatre kid of 6 years: Wait these are hard. I know Evita doesnt get a water break in Act 2 but at times my acting teachers dont give us a break for 3 hours. All of which are peppy dance numbers

Why arent there any amazing European roles on this list. Like Elisabeth from the musical Elisabeth (played by Pia Douwes) or 3 musketeers? Also an awesome woman part in Daens and so on

If the stage musical version of Billy Wilder's 'Sunset Boulevard' was ever to be adapted for the big screen, Glenn Close would easily top the list of candidates to play Norma Desmond.

Y'all forgot MRS LOVETTE! Angela Lansbury had actually cussed Sondheim for making her parts hard to sing because it didn't include places for the actress to breathe between notes!

Ms Lea Salonga performing in miss saigon, les mis (twice as eponine and fantine, allegiance and the list just keeps on going on and on. Shes the OG Badass of Musical Theater.

it is disrespectful to show a clip of Ute Lemper as Velma From the London cast with her voice that of the one and only Bebe Neuwirth. No Class.

I feel like Sarah from Ragtime is a difficult role to play. She's such a powerful role that I think only Audra McDonald can pull off.

Dude, who is narrating Emily or Phoebe? Or both? They sure sound the same. I've watched a lot of your videos and just now noticed this!

Phillipa had to work really hard for Eliza.
Eliza is emotionally challenged and she switches emotions quickly,

The word 'sassy' has racist origins. Don't use that word again, and use another word instead such as 'witty'

Disappointed that there are so few roles requiring legit singing rather than squalling out endless belt songs.
