Here's my opinion on each season
Season 1: For Season 1 standards, this season was surprisingly good even tho it does feel a bit forgettable. 7/10
Season 2: I feel like Season 2 had too much filler and it feels like a repeat of Season 1, not to mention this season had too many guest-stars. 5/10
Season 3: I'm mixed on this season, on one hand Season 3 does feel more fleshed out than Season 1 & Season 2 but on the other hand this season is overrated as everyone praises the hell out of this season, so overall I think Season 3 is a good season but definitely a overrated season. 7. 5/10
Season 4: Despite Chandler being mostly miserable in this season, I think it's still a decent season for what it is. 7. 5/10
Season 5: This is where the show break-out, the episodes are well-written and has nice storytelling. 9/10
Season 6: IMO this is the best season of the show, the episodes are very well-written, the comedy is really funny and the season finale is very beautiful and emotional. 10/10
Season 7: Even tho this season's theme is around Monica & Chandler's wedding, the rest of Season 7 suffers the same problem as Season 2 that being having too much filler. 5/10
Season 8: Much like with Season 2 & Season 7, Season 8 had a little too much filler but at least I give it credit that Rachel's pregnancy arc of this season managed to keep it from being boring. 6/10
Season 9: Yeah, Season 9 definitely marks a period were the creators ran out of ideas for the show, aside from Mike & Monica & Chandler's inability to have a baby, Season 9 is certainly a low point for FRIENDS. 2/10
Season 10: Even tho it's not by much, Season 10 recovers from the boring Season 9 and the episodes feel more authentically well-written rather than filler written and the series finale proves that FRIENDS will go down in history as the best sitcom of the 90s. 6. 5/10

What annoys me about the whole Joey and Rachel thing is that early in season 9 Rachel had said she wasn't interested in Joey and Joey had told Ross that he should be with Rachel. All of them are best friends so why on earth would Rachel especially want to jeapordise the close bond she has with Ross. I'm glad it ended when it did and don't forget Joey had criticised Chandler for getting in the way of Janices family getting back together yet here he was trying to do the same with Ross and Rachel and their daughter Emma. Also through out the series has been portrayed as a character who is a loyal friend. Joey loved Rachel at one point of time, but then he realised that he is not the one for her. Ross and Rachel's on and off relationship shows the fact that people can fall in love and then grow apart. Their (Ross and Rachel's) relationship is quite relatable because people aren't perfect and they are bound to have problems.

1. Season 5 (Everyone finding out about Monica and Chandler delivered the most comedy gold of the series)
2. Season 8 (This season, as well as 9, showed great development and growth for the characters)
3. Season 9 (Phoebe finding love, well thought out and cohesive stories to fit with life changes)
4. Season 2 (Satisfying aftermath of Ross and Rachel finally getting together)
5. Season 3 (Great drama and comedy in the Ross/Rachel fallout)
6. Season 6 (Funny season but mostly forgettable except for Ross dating his student)
7. Season 1 (Enjoyable and fresh but the characters were least developed at this time)
8. Season 10 (Rushed, awkward and badly tied up storylines, lost momentum built from the previous two seasons)
9. Season 4 (Many pointless story arcs and too much Ross/Rachel bitterness)
10. Season 7 (Too focused on wedding preparations and Monica becoming unlikeable)

In my opinion,
I feel S1 was decent, S2 is cool but not better than S1 i feel.
S3 then gets the show on another level, with cool story arcs for everyone.
S4 is surely the peak i would say and the best season.
S5 is good but not as good as S4, bit of low after the peak season.
S6 recovers well with a solid season and the show starts climbing the peak again
S7 continues the story well and a good followup and connector to S8
S8 is surely awesome one and again tries to reach the peak levels of S4
S9 just lets down after the high similarly to S5
S10 closes off well after the lowly S9, just perfect ending and one of the best seasons.

Season 9 and 10 are great to me. I think that even in that aspect Friends is better than most series. Those seasons are funny in a different way, more loose as the end was imminent, but you can feel the actors are having a good time, and that has a really good effect on screen. Plus Christina Applegate and other guests are just perfect. In other series, even in the great ones (Community or The Office) you can feel the boredom and non interest in some of their actors towards the end, and the new characters tend to be weak at most

Seasons 1-6 were great until the cringe hit round Season 7. Monica just grew increasingly shrill and annoying and Rachel doing the whole My boss wants my baby bit? I have to always skip it cuz i cant stand it.
Season 1 being ranked #9? Give me a freaking break. If it was THAT bad, no one would've continued watching and Friends wouldn't be the success it is today. We're just getting to know the characters. That's always fun about starting a new series.

I completely agree with S1 & S7 being low they've ranked them both in bottom three. I would've had them bottom two. I wouldn't have had S9 in bottom two at all let alone 10th place.
Friends peak was seasons 2 to 6 a high level throughout where as other seasons although all featured very good episodes (including S1 & S7) had some less entertaining one's or and/or not as funny.

I think Season 9 should be closer to Season 8. I can skip lots of episodes here and there. Mostly with Joey and Rachels future relationship. Their first and last date in the final season is one I can watch over and over again. Lol I love slowing the scenes when Rachel smacks Joey
reply

I love the direction the show took in season 1, all the characters had a level of complexity and realism that faded as the show progressed. That being said, there were funny seasons and plot lines later on
reply

The first seasons (from 1st to 4th, maybe 5th.
They were handsome, healthy, adorable. and the screenwriters didn't start their evil changes nor deep into the most unbearable side of the characters.

I personally think that rating season 2 as #2 just because of many guest stars is wrong. I mean, come on, we all are here for the main characters.
