I also loved Arren and Therrus blooming romance in Tales from Earthsea, regardless that Therru started off hating and not trusting Arren at first due to his dark side (From his fear of death and his pursuing shadow from the worlds balance collapsing because of Cob obsessed with gaining the forbidden power of eternal life) temporally emerging from within his troubled heart and soul while he rescued her from Cobs slave traders. And by the end of it, she overcame that hatred and distrust when Arren expressed his true personality and even confessed to how his inner dark side forced him to kill his own dad, steal his sword, and run away from Enlad earlier in the film, and then when Cob captured him, Sparrowhawk, and Tenar, Therru, alone, ended up saving all three of them by convincing Arren to overcome his fear of death and his shadow by telling him to face his fears, especially the life given to him by birth that his inner dark side enticed him to fear as well. So, in other words, it wasnt just Sparrowhawk who helped Arren overcome his fears before losing his magic to Cob and then getting captured, it was mostly Therru who helped Arren, and that, in turn, ended up helping him try to save Therru from Cob and then Therru, upon turning into a dragon and killing Cob with her fire breath, ended up saving him from the collapsing damaged tower. (Which they were on)
Now that, in my honest opinion, is true love and loyalty for the both of them.\r\n

One reason I love Ghibli/Miyazaki is how they write relationships: the couples don't feel forced, they actually feel sweet, wholesome and believable without seeing a kiss between them.
And even the side non-romantic relationships are so cute. For example, I love how Ponyo showed a positive relationship between Sosuke and the old ladies, his mom and his dad (who let's not forget were in bad terms. And don't even get me started on Sophie's relationship with Markl: he literally goes from being distrustful of her to hugging her and being like I don't want you to go! and she takes care of him like a mother would

One thing that I love about these movies especially with the young kid pairs couples, is the third or not just able to show like romantic love theyre also able to show true platonic sweet child love in some of their movies which I find adorable and a bit of fresh air because we dont always see that often and more of the western movies.
