I found a cheap foot stool once. Mother in law helped me change the fabric on it and gave me a quick lesson in how to do that. I bought gold paint for the legs afterwards. It still stands in my living room 5 years later, and it's one of the favorite places for our youngest cat to nap. And all in all it only cost me 5 dollars for the stool and 10 dollars for the paint. I got the new fabric for free from mother in law's closet. She always sews so she has a lot of fabric lying around.

in terms of training yourself to find nice quality- whenever something feels extremely nice, soft etc, check the material tag. This is how i've trained myself to recognize materials like cashmere, linen, silk, etc - by touch alone! Oh, and always hold cashmere and silk items up to a light or window to check for things like holes and runs. Sometimes holes can be mended, but you always want to know about what you're working with before you leave the store.

I love this video: ) I miss the days when I used to live near our unique thrift store. Every time I'd go in looking for Books and Candles, but then browse the other stuff. Knowing which color tags coincided with which sale day made a huge difference in my routine and choices. :) Best find ever was a foot tall rose scented candle for 2 bucks. I used that thing for years whenever I felt like pampering myself when I was reading. :)

I work in a thrift store and we tend to throw away/salvage anything that's dirty, stained, ripped etc. We take time to check the items out, but of course occasionally things are missed. Also, haggling is SOOO annoying! Keep in mind that there are a lot of stores (like mine) that are non profit so every dollar counts. I know that most stores around here add items daily.

If youre a thrift blogger like me my advice is get to the store when the doors first open. The emptier the store is the easier it is to get film content, browse and not be intrusive on other customers and staff. The staff seems a lot more lenient when the store is emptier too. Just my advice.

3: 44 I completely agree I live next to a Valley village and when I need to clean my closet( or the more appropriate name is purging) me and my mom put them in big bags and ship them off there and we get a crap load of discounts on stuff there

I go to different thrift stores. My best deals was a desk chair for when I started working from home for $10 and a Torrid dress for a dollar. And at a different store brand new shoes from Hot Topic that had not been worn.

haggling doesn't always work in stores works mainly outdoor type like estate or garage sales but check label for sure you're getting the right size sometimes not reading it might be thinking what was i thinking
