Some of these dances didn't just come out of nowhere. Like the prom scene in She's all that it's a prom most likely theres dancing and the dance scene in 13 going on 30 she was trying to get a party started. Now the dance scene in 500 days of summer now that's a dance that came out of nowhere
P. s. I can see people are really obsessed with the movie White Chicks it's all people can seem to be talking about right now. Besides that's not really a dance that came out of nowhere

I have to say out of all of these, 500 days of summer was the most surprising one for me. It seemed to come out of nowhere but fit so well. When watching the movie didnt seem like the kind that would have a dance number in it but as soon as it happened I was like of course why was I ever questioning it. Now that Ive seen that dance number it feels like the movie would be missing something without it. Which means it was perfectly executed.
Which I loved it so much!

im sorry you put 13 going on 30 in this lineup? lol did ANYONE see that silly movie? And Girls Trip? So many other great dance scenes and those gets in the lineup. sad. At least they showed a majority of good dancing in movies, but really, its a spit in the face of movie dancing by putting 13 going on 30 and Girls Trip on that list.

Napoleon shouldve been number one, he shouldve at least been in the rankings. Because no one expected anyone to cheer for them at the end. You need to redo this list or make a part two and make that the number one. People I know that are older and younger agreed that is the best dancing ever with the best underrated movie ever

Amazing how all these people had just 3 weeks to learn these complicated dance moves and did them so well. I guess it you do the same steps 100 times, day after day you're bound to get them right. Also, if you notice the camera shots are so presented so that no one really is dancing at all.

how does DO THE RIGHT THING count as a comedy?
I don't know that a dance scene 'comes out of nowhere' when it happens at a dancing social occasion, or as part of the depiction of a Hollywood dance number being made, or as a planned performance within the story

It upsets me a little when the dance song in the movie has nothing to do with the movie plot ie Paddington 2, This Is The End. Its like the director just wants to put something in the movie to fill up space but it doesnt really need to be there.

2: And now I just see the Hulk and Gollum dancing to Thriller. Ok ok yeah I know Andy Serkis and Jennifer Garner have also played Marvel characters too but they werent Hulk/ Gollum type characters in those movies.

You mention Busby Berkeley but totally ignore the crazy ending of Blazing Saddles. Talk about the epitome of expected dance numbers. Way to stick out your tush and do the french mistake, Mojo.

I don't get the came out of nowhere part. Most of them are theater shows turned into movies or they're at a prom or dance. Rosie Perez is a pro dancer so of course she's gonna dance lol.

Thirteen Going on Thirtys Thriller is one of my favorite scenes of all time. If I see it on, I will switch to it to watch that. Which is about 40 minutes in, if I remember right.
reply

I never really considered The Breakfast Club a comedy since there are so many angst type scenes, but I did enjoy the dancing. It should have been more than a honorable mention!

I guess you missed out Romy and Micheles High School Reunion, when Michele was asked by Sandy to dance but she insisted that Romy should dance with them. Thought that was #1

STEP UP 3 with ALYSON STONER and ADAM SEVANI dance scene was a good one. Didn't even expect them to dance that choreographed dance they did which had no STREET DANCING.
reply

Awww I thought the end sean from Friends with Benefits when J. T started the flash mob was going to be on the list the was the best sean in the whole movie.
reply

Thriller (13 going on 30) deserved to be #1. It was the highlight of Jennifer Garner's career and demonstrated an acting subtlety most did not know she had.

One of my all-time favorites has to be The Inquisition from Mel Brooks' History of the World Part 1. It at least deserved a mention.

I always loved the Time Warp, from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Campy but a lot of fun. Enough to make Brad and Janet pass out.
