Harvard has a long history of gender biases. When I was applying to colleges, I was so offended that women would be admitted to Radcliffe, rather than Harvard. (Part of what turned them into my fourth choice / backup school. Got into my first-choice school (which was statistically harder to get into than Harvard and ranked as the hardest college to get into that year, and never looked back) BTW - at the time of this comment, U. S. News and World Report ranks Harvard as the _fifth_ ranked law school in the U. S.
And yes, practice tests really _do_ help with the LSAT, for those of you planning to apply.

When that lady at the clothing store tried to sell her that item and Elle immediately rattled off why that was a rip-off, that told me how smart Elle was - among many other scenes in that movie. Spouting off percentages on how well doing certain things could benefit you is another clue. Love this movie! (And I love how Elle didn't blame Vivian when she showed up at the party in costume - she merely told Warner that she just felt like dressing up. Good on her. I tend to blame others when I mess up. LOL

I feel like this video was made for children A lot of these are pretty standard mechanisms in film, like motifs (repeating scenes/music) or the use of costume to reflect how a character is feeling. There wasnt anything in this video that was a true Easter egg or hidden detail - maybe some things would be lost on people when they were kids like the Coppola reference, but its the same as any writing. Theres nothing particularly mysterious or high concept in any of the dialogue or plot lines.

Wow--this is a push to the etymological dictionaries! I didn't realize the prefix semi- was related to the morpheme sem as from semen, nor to Greek for 'sign' as in semaphore or semiotics. If someone has a good source to understand these links, please share. I remember seeing this line in the movie theatre and even back then thinking that's a deceivingly different morpheme.

So, she blew off Greek week to study. Isnt Greek week like rush for the sororities? And she was the president of hers. Which would have been really important for her to be heading and taking care of at that time.
Also; Paulettes magazine article talks about dying -as in hair dying. Duh. She works in a salon. It makes sense people. Dont over think it.

When I watched this movie in theaters, I felt like I could do anything. Of course it took me a while, but I eventually went to university, became a geographer, ditched my career as a geographer to open a posh bakery/cafe, writing a book, and now thinking about getting my masters. I was so afraid of university but now I can conquer my dreams

Whoever complied this list probably only watch the movie a handful of times. Trust me, NO ONE missed that Warner was bad news. It's literally a main plot point of the story. Also while we're at it, she almost DEFINITELY got in based on that score. They brought it up at the meeting with her application. Do better with these lists. Please.

9: 36 honestly it is when I was watching Wednesday and the scene where they were watching a horror movie the second I heard the opening notes I'm like there's only one movie that opens like that! My lawyer husband, who went to the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia and now works for the federal government LOVES this movie. He says his journey mirrored Elle's in a ton of ways. His goodness, intelligence and tenacity all shine through, just like Elle's do.

Yes. 179 is super impressive. But what is more impressive is that she figured out games by having someone read the question to her instead of writing abbreviating the rules and drawing a game board. And doing practice exams while the other girls watched workout videos in the same room.

Thats what i never got about warner, She was head of her sorority no dumb bimbo can achieve that, after being with her for so long how could he have no noted that she was highly intelligent aswell as extremely gorgeous and fashionable. I never got that. Warren really was a bone head lol

The only thing is she only did all this to follow a man. Now shes going to live her life in a career basically to spite him. But all of that drive and intelligence, I wonder what she couldve achieved had it been something she herself was passionate about, not someone elses dream

Fun fact: at the beginning of the movie, it shows CULA (Elle's college, but it was actually shot at Caltech in Pasadena, CA. (in front of the Physics Nobel building (Milikan, Undergrad admission, and Einstein library house. The campus is always quiet, unlike the scenes in it.

Warner takes Elle to a fancy restaurant to give her bad news, because the recipient of bad news is less likely to make a scene at a fancy restaurant. Not saying that makes him a good guy, but that's a very standard reason for upscale dining and bad news giving.

I own the DVD of this film and one of the special features was a trivia track which gave interesting bits about the film. One of them was that for every scene, Elle had a different hairstyle, about 40 in total.

Warren is not awesome was obvious, IMO. Otherwise, after several views I missed a bunch. Thanks for this compilation. I will look for what I missed next time I enjoy Legally Blonde.
