I happened to listen to an interview on NPR of a doctor who has bipolar disorder and who has suffered with depression for years, who has gotten treatment, therapy, and worked hard for years to be healthy. He was always open about his past struggles, never had a history of aggression in any way nor attempted harm, and yet was pretty much black-listed at his hospital. This is a serious case of bias and even treads on gray area around discrimination.
It may seem like a very fine, blurry line between allowing someone with a past of mental health issues IN RELATION TO AGGRESSION AND VIOLENCE, not in other cases because we are all prone to mental health ups and downs in life, and because plenty of people with mental health problems are able to perform their jobs adequately in many cases. (I Can think of many people who have endured catastrophic divorce, the loss of a loved one, the revisiting of past traumas, having an alcoholic family member, etc. who managed to be excellent workers despite their problems, for example.
Having said that, I am hoping whatever systems hospitals have for keeping patients safe and red-flagging dangerous staff are now in place. There is absolutely no excuse for something like this to have happened, much less to the extent that it did.

Why did Amy work the night shift?
She was stressed out with the problems arising from this and diagnosed with ccardiomyopathy,
Problems with her heart muscle
Her daughter was also stressed mainly because Amy wasn't there, and therefore had a child minder.
As a retired nurse, with two young boys, I worked when they were in school.
During school holidays it was OK because Amy would only have to pay the child minder for that period of time and therefore cheaper than hours she worked at night, possibly ten to twelve hours shift.
Also applied if she had to work the oddd weekend.
The shortage of nurses usually meant that hospital administration were happy to accommodate this.
Working nights can be very tiring and Amy, because of the myopathy, probably made this worse by not having enough rest. especially if she wasn't sleeping during the day and trying to fit in household chores too.
Was a very good film and surprising to see Eddie Redmayne as the ' bad guy'!

I saw this film Eddie Redmayne played this weirdo off to a tee!
He came over as a slimy & annoying.
The film Also brought to light the truly disturbing facts about hospital management knowing about the murders but moving the problem on,
this in my eyes & I've no doubt the bereaved families, makes them just as culpable, they too should be behind bars! At the end of the film I desperately felt & wanted the nurse who stuck her neck out to help catch the killer & get justice for the families.
In the film she wasn't compensated in anyway & to this day is still an amazing nurse!

Its outrageous that this guy was allowed to go from hospital to hospital, even though he was under suspicion at each one. I liked the movie, and am reading the book now. Eddie Redmayne was incredible, as always. Dude was much crazier than the movie showed. I found all of this terrifying. Im a cancer survivor, with multiple chronic conditions. No idea how many times Ive been hospitalized. This is terrifying to me. I also watched the documentary on Netflix, which was also really good.

The movie was good only because of the actors playing the roles otherwise it was just a serial murder story. Hospitals hire all types of psychos especially nurses. The females are as unstable and as moody of anything you can imagine. Especially those in the ER where most of the psychos work. ER and ICU and rural hospitals are the places to stay far away from. 34 plus years of experience has taught me this. And all hospitals especially the heart hospital in Bakersfield Calf.

Coding in big city hospitals is not that unusual. Ever been to the ER or with a relative in the hospital? I would hear codes announced many times. So the coding itself is not unusual, depending on what kind of hospital it is. If there are rarely any critical patients and then suddenly all this coding starts when they hire a nurse. well it is not rocket science.
reply

I believe that it keeps happening these days. The difference is that there is a massive cover up and censure of those healthcare workers that come forward to share what they've seen. Especially from the end of 2019. But most of them choose to ignore and keep their jobs.

Acting is superb. I didn't even have to listen to their dialogues. The display of their emotions said it all. best actress, best actor, the 2 supporting cast members deserve 2022 Oscar's, Golden Globe, etc. Netflix, hoping that you'll show some more like The Good Nurse.
reply

3: 02. Apparently this hospital did suspected something was off, and was going to file lawsuits against him. But Cullen got word of it, and left before they could do anything about him. So not all the hospitals he worked at were willing to turn a blind eye.
reply

It makes me so frustrated how he still has never explained why he did it. I just want to know why, like what did that do for him? Killing innocent people? I understand hes obviously insane and a psychopath but I just feel like their has to be a reason? Anyone else?
reply

I think everyone agrees that hospital ignoring his crime is what actually terrifying. Like we know what we do but we wont expose you cuz that will ruin us as well. Kinda like in American Psycho when the apartment owner lady insist that theres no dead bodies
reply

Many of these killings were acts of mercy. hospitals waste alot of valuable resources and time on patients that would only gain a few months or miserable years.
And now tax payers money will be wasted on keeping him alive for the next 20 + years.

reply

The American judicial system is really weak and ridiculous. How selfish and irresponsible people are, I mean the colleagues and employees of the hospitals where the killer worked on them. except for the nurse who helps the police and she is hero.
reply

The sad thing is this still happens today. Look up the following: Johnathan Hayes from NC gave lethal insulin doses to two patients who died earlier this year, officials say. He was arrested on murder charges Tuesday (10/25/22.
reply

Covering your own ass isn't sufficient when murders are occurring. The hospitals should be held liable too because they were complicit in his actions when they dismissed him for minor issues allowing him the ability to get other jobs.
reply

I have watched the good Nurse, and its good. I would recommend others to take a look at it. You will get lots of interesting and trill scenes. Also, the movie will show the sloppy work of the American hospital system in those days.
reply

I just finished watching this about a few minutes. I am shocked by the statistics of his crimes, but that no one at the hospitals stopped him or take action. Great acting By Eddie And Jessica.
reply

It's almost like he did it to prove how easy it was for him to get away with it and how the hospitals weren't taking his actions as serious as they should have and so he kept doing it.
reply

Yeah back in the day it was so easy to be a nurse. They said the same thing in other nurse killer shows. I think the doco on Netflix of nurses who kill. I mean them saying the shortage
reply

This is what happens when hospitals are in business for profit. Money and power meant more to all those damn hospitals than the lives of any future patients Cullen would murder.
reply

the hospitals who knew about all those murders should be fired and pay for all medical bills to those families who lost their loved ones, so devastating I hope the families sue
reply

The real story is very interesting, the movie is very bland and drawn out, the acting is impeccable, made it somewhat bearable, and there are a few interesting moments.
reply

Ooh I was just reading those actors went to nursing school for a couple of weeks to learn how to do their jobs on the movie. Eddie said he was terrible at it lol

Failed To Kill Him Self And End His Own Life More Than Once Is All You Need To Know To Understand This Loser.
Coward Is Right Term Or description I Guess.

reply

Its crazy how Jeffrey Dahmer got away with it for so long for the same reasons this guy did. Negligence from Police and this guys case Hospital. Thats scary
reply

This one disturbed me so much. It's unreal that nothing has been done, hospital's got away with it. He was evil of course but so are those 'businesses'
reply

Only thing this video missed was he was also employed by Lehigh Valley Hospital as well as St. Lukes which also had wrongful deaths due to his actions.
reply

Hospitals hire serial murderers. Imagine how many people young and old have been murdered World wide. They make a ton of money. It will never stop.
reply

Thats terrible. His nursing license should have been revoked. It doesnt matter if theres a shortage of nurses. The deaths arent worth it. :(
reply

I just finished watching it was good and quite chilling. Thank goodness for the 2 officers that were determined to get to the truth 9/10
