I think Les Miserables has the most satisfying ending. Sure, it's from an adaptation of an adaptation and it's therefore not an original concept. Still, that didn't exclude The Color Purple from the honorable mentions, so I don't think it should exclude Les Mis either. Still, I cry from happiness almost every time I see Valjean go to heaven and see so many people who lived such hard lives and died fighting for justice. The lyrics of that song are also so beautiful: For the wretched of the Earth, there is a flame that never dies. Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise! I get the same feeling from the musical, of course, but the visuals in the movie, with the martyrs still calling for action from beyond a barricade with the sun coming out of the clouds, are absolutely perfect.

lmao no. the ending of endgame completely ruined Steves entire character. he abandoned his friends when they needed him most, broke his promise to Bucky, his best friend since childhood, and stole peggys entire life that she built for herself after his death away. he was selfish, and though he absolutely deserved a happy ending, the ending he got wasnt it. steve and tonys endings should have been swapped. steve wouldve gotten a herioc, in character death, and tony would have been able to go back to his wife and daughter, and continue as a father figure for peter. the ending we got was not satisfying in the slightest.

BlacKkKlansman had a pretty satisfying ending. The real clips from Charlottesville and Trump and Duke was provocative and important to the movies message, and Im glad they included that. It leaves you feeling a little shaken when the credits roll, even though the fake ending was happy, making sure you remember that even after victories like Rons, the world is still very much bigoted and there are still many problems to solve today. (The you got it? scene and last call to Duke scene were hilarious and extremely satisfying victories as well)

I agree with a majority of the picks (not necessarily the ranking thought); however the ending to Dead Poet's Society should have been on here, even if it was included as an honorable mention, it would have made me happier with this list. The ending to Dead Poet's Society is sad, but when all of the boys start standing up and saying O Captain, My Captain and Mr. Keating says So long boys I get teary eyed. The movie ended with Mr. Keating achieving his goal: showing these boys that it is ok to choose your own path and think for yourself.

Knives Out had an awesome ending. Just as were accepting that this movie isnt a typical murder mystery whodunnit they subvert expectations again and we not only get an answer to the mystery, we get to see our main character that weve been rooting for get her just reward. With that full circle back to the coffee mug that states my house, my rules, my coffee as she finally gets to look down on this horrible family that has always looked down on her.

Ahh satisfying movie endings. such a hard list to formulate. This list was pretty good, but it is so hard to say what is truly the most satisfying. Definitely had me crying with so many mentioned here. From The Color Purple, The Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life, and Return of the King. Ahh. We got to see Stark grow and fall in love with him so it's a lot harder when we have to say goodbye to a character we came to love and respect not just AS a character but a human being that saw what his company was doing and making and decide to not go down that road

The first Pirates of the Caribbean film that a pretty great ending. Will and Elizabeth's epic kiss and Jack getting the Black Pearl back. I personally like the sequels, but it could have theoretically been a perfect, satisfying ending.

The Shawshank Redemption is my favourite movie of all time because of that ending, it makes me cry every time not in a bad way but because its simply beautiful. That zoomed out hug they give is just argh warms the heart.
