Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
These songs defined 2000s kids childhoods. For this list, well be looking at the best tracks released between 2000-2009 that we grew up obsessing over. Our countdown includes Bye Bye Bye, Come Clean, Survivor, and more! Which 2000s song defined YOUR childhood? I've never heard that Jonas Brothers song. But all the rest, ABSOLUTELY! I totally forgot that Hillary Duff even made music. and now I'm going to find her music videos and relive my childhood for a few.

I'll be honest, when I saw this title, I didn't expect the entries to be 'teenie-bopper' centric.
XD
Nothing wrong with that, of course, I listened to a lot of these too, it's more. well, I was expecting more stuff like Yeah by Usher on this list.
I guess there's that dissonance. While 'normal' kinds my age were listening to the stuff on this list, our car radio played songs like
Right Thurr by Chingy
Drop it Like it's Hot by Snoop Dogg
Gasolina by Daddy Yankee
Cleaning Out My Closet by Eminem
What's even funnier than that is I had my Hannah Montana phase in middle/high school when my peers were listening to more adult stuff.
And I wonder why I'm so warped as an Adult. XD

I feel like the honorable mentions are far more memorable than many songs on the list. There's way too many late 2000s songs in there, and honestly none of those feel memorable to me. Also, while I don't disagree with oops I did it again, I feel that Toxic ended up being even more iconic and huge when it came out, and I'm surprised it wasn't even mentioned

Back then in the 2000s when most of songs gave us good vibes only and more understandable lyrics to understand their message and its content overall as we grew up with them during our nostalgic childhood memories that marked our nostalgia from these memorable artists that will always have a special place in everyone hearts for good old days.

Nothing against Paramore and Miley, but I would've put Complicated/Avril and Where is the love/Black Eyed Peas instead. And I'm a swifty but Love Story was closer to 2010, that I think there were songs that represented more the 2000's era, like pieces of me/ Ashley Simpson or Christina with Come on over or Genie in the Bottle
reply

Nobody thought Mr. Brightside should have been an honorable mention? American Idiot? This is a great list but really should have been titled 10 best POP songs of the 2000's. Also how you going to put Hilary Duff but no Christina. Seriously? Beautiful was such a good song. Ok rant over. Still a good list though.

So, N'Sync and Britney I can get, but the others not so much and I guess this is meant to be a teeny bopper list, but what about.
So What? Pink
Lose Control - Missy Elliot
Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani
Hey Ya - Outkast
Umbrella - Rihanna
Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

My favorites are
Dirty little secret
A thousand miles
Leave (get out)
And
Misery business
But i have a question.
Where is the Rasmus - in the shadows?
It was everywhere.

. HOW THE HECK IS THERE NO P! NK OR MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE ON THIS LIST! Yet they have Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, when they didnt show up until the of the 00s
reply

I was sure either Mr. Brightside or I Write Sins Not Tragedies would be the top pick for this one, and I'm kinda shocked they didn't even get honorable mentions. :O

Omg less talk! More subject content PLEASE! Meaning more what we want to hear and watch, MUCH less commentary. Doubt I'm the first person to say this

reply

I'm a little surprised no Green Day, The Killers or Kelly Clarkson made it on this list. Maybe have made a top 20 list. Other then that I like the rest.
reply

The real and nostalgic sound of the 2000s was the high peak of great and popular music of all genres with good quality and quantity to listen with joy.
reply

I see the difference of my music taste because I was more like oh my goodneeeess! Yeaaaaah! with the Honorable mentions than with most songs of the list.
reply

I'm kinda shocked that Sk8er Boi isn't even an honorable mention. I still love that song, hell I'll put it on when I'm exercising.
reply

Listening to Bye Bye Bye as an adult is realizing this song is a GUY escaping from a FEMALE abuser, which is very uncommon.
reply

Jonas brothers wasn't the first band to sing year 3000 it was an English band called busted who was the original band to sing it
reply

Those are great picks! The song that I grew op with was not on this list, but it's called Fly to Your Heart by Selena Gomez.
reply

I can't believe I was only two when A Thousand Miles came out. I can't believe how young I was when most of these came out.
reply

I thought Avril Lavigne's Complicated would be the number 1! When I heard Oops I Did It Again by Britney S. oh yeah deserved!
reply

Why are the honorable mentions the best songs on this list and most of the list songs being annoying or down right awful!
reply

Every time I hear these songs I immediately get transported to those embarassing and awkward but fun days of teenage life
reply

People referring to Misery Business having problematic lyrics but then everything in pop music today isn't? lol.
reply

My childhood was basically #10 and #1. The rest I couldn't relate to until literally every honorable mention
reply

Got goosebumps as soon as she mentioned the climb didn't even need to hear it, the nostalgia kicked right in
reply

How the hell do you have no BSB! Its as if youve never even seen TRL when MTV was about music. #disgusted
