Every single singer on this list did a good job in their acting roles. Janelle Monet nailed their role in Hidden Figures, Lady Gaga was a show-stealer in A Star Is Born, Jennifer Hudson did very well in Respect, And Whitey Huston did amazing in The Bodyguard. We need more talented people like them. Maybe next time we can try the Top 10 moments we found out an Actor was a great Singer or the Top 10 movie facts that will Ruin Your Childhood.

I'd add Rhianna to the list. The only screen performance I've seen her in was Battleship, which was painfully under appreciated. However, Rhianna, minus her signature fancy clothes and makeup, was utterly convincing as Petty Officer Raikes. Her low key performance was one of well disciplined terror and utter competence in the face of the unthinkable. It's a shame so few people appreciated it.

Boogie Nights is still one of my most favorite Hollywood movies of all time.
Mark Wahlberg went from hip hop singer to film actor did an impressive job playing the character 17 to 24-year-old Eddie Addams/Dirk Diggler.
Burt Reynolds (may he rest in peace) did a great job and he deserve the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actor-Drama in the late 90s.

I was born in the early 80's so to me, Whitney Huston, Dolly Parton, Cher and Modanna were already singer/actress in my eyes. My first experience in realizing a singer could act was Jennifer Lopez. If You Had My Love was huge when I was a teen so seeing her come out in Selena (first movie I saw her in) I was blown away.

With Marky Mark it was more like Top ten moments we found out an actor whose been in ten percent of all movies used to be in a band. I still dont believe hes got a higher voice now than in the nineties. I grew up near dorchester mass and used to egg this guys house.

My vote is Bette Midler in The Rose. She was an incredible entertainer/singer and then BAM got an Oscar-nom right out of the gate with an incredible performance. She deserves to be on this list because there is no category of talent she doesnt have in spades.
reply

Geeze you missed arguably the best, the divine miss M. Bette Midler's role in The Rose was the best debut acting performances by a singer ever. It was filled with so much nuance and depth that she was nominated in just about every acting awards!
reply

I found it funny when she was talking about Ice Cube. . 1. Technically he wasn't OShea Jackson Sr. till his son was born and he named him the same, but Jr. 2. Calling him the young Cube when talking about his film debut. why not call him Water
reply

So, Whitney Houston, who totally lacked chemistry with co-star Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard, gets a spot on the list, but Bette Midler, who blew us away with her Oscar nominated performance in The Rose, doesn't even get an honorable mention.
reply

I wasn't much of a fan of Mandy Moore until This is Us. I really liked her in that. She was able to portray various ages very well, I'd forget her actual age every now and then when she was playing the older version of her character.
reply

also Justin Timberlake on alpha-dog, Nick Jonas on scream queens, Tina Turner, Jared Leto, Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler, Elvis was a good actor but thanks to the coronel he ended up making really bad movies.
reply

Ummmm LG at Number 1? What a joke. Not in AHS. she was horrible. Not even in A Star Is Born. So overrated. Ever seen Queen Latifah in Set It Off? Or Bjork in Dancer in the Dark? Girl plz. Log out.
reply

From _American Horror Story_ to _Gucci, _ Lady Gaga has proven to be just as great an actor, as a singer and dancer. A real tripple threat. And I can't wait to see what role she plays next.
reply

You guys forgot one honorable mention, Queen Latifah. Her breakthrough acting role on the sitcom Living Single paved the way for her iconic roles in Set It Off, Chicago, Last Holiday, and Bessie.
reply

Whitney Houston did a very good job in the movie The Bodyguard.
I Will Always Love You is still one of 5 most favorite songs performed by Whitney Houston herself, may she rest in peace

reply

A lot of these, if not all, are older actors and singers. I bet some of the younger crowd would be like. who is that? Wait who? Lol. I guess I just aged myself by knowing all of these.
reply

For me, Jesse McCartney as Robin/Nightwing on Young Justice. The former teen pop star was awesome in the role and perfectly mixed Dick's snarkiness and utterly adorable precociousness.
reply

I highly recommend people to watch American Satan and the show Paradise City. The movie and show stars Andy Biersack, whos the lead singer of the rock band Black Veil Brides
reply

Whatever about Jamie Foxx and etc. Jennifer Hudson is a force to be reckoned with! Haters always ignore her in favor of others who are impressive, but she deserves her flowers!
reply

Whitney Houston on Waiting To Exhale
Mariah Carey on Glitter
Mary J. Blige on Betty and Coretta/Mudbound
Janet Jackson on Why Did I Get Married Too?
Brandy on Moesha

reply

It reminds me that the voice is such an elemental part of acting with presence. The breath control, modulation and expressiveness singers develop follows them to the screen
reply

Tina Turner in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
Bette Midler in The Rose
Justin Timberlake in The Social Network
Queen Latifah in Set It Off

reply

Forgot Ice-T for law and order SVU and LL COOL J- for NCIS LA. Both been acting on those shows for years with some powerful story lines.
reply

Tupac as an honorable mention what a joke. No Will Smith or Queen Latifa or Macy Gray. Ms Mojo really needs to step their game up
reply

Whitney was basically playing herself in The Bodyguard. She's greatly missed, especially in the music world.
reply

Probably should do a top ten or twenty hip hop artist turned across cause ice cube should not be on here
reply

Dolly Parton is amazing at acting, be it comedy or drama. I also enjoyed watching her in Steel Magnolias.
reply

You cant be serious? Jamie Foxx as Ray is the greatest acting performance of ALL TIME by ANYONE!
