I found FRIENDS funny back then, but also thought the only realistic character was Gunther. Also, Phoebe's psychiatrist boyfriend Roger's rant about the friends was the best moment in the entire series. He was on point with his analysis, yet he was the one seen as the completely derranged one.

Judy's abusive behaviour towards Monica, to the point of forgetting her existence, is definitely dark for a sitcom. Also, Joey gaslighting Laura into believing that she didn't call him, rather than the other way around, gets more sinister without the laugh track.

Let's be honest, HALF of Ross' scenes, especially obsessing over Rachel and getting jealous of any man who shows interest in her, and trying to beat up her and Phoebe, would easily make the cut. His Nice Guy demeanour hasn't aged well at all.
